| Storyline |
Nightwing asked Alfred to
send Batman to find him. The Dark Knight watched his first protege end a
kidnapping situation that the police had been investigating for weeks. He
then saw Dick Grayson retire from the "hero business." Alfred
visited Dick the next day and brought him some documents from his parents'
case. Grayson came up with some angles that had not been explored and
planned a trip to Kravia. The Kravian government sent an assassin for him
upon finding out.
Dick returned home from an evening with the girl he'd rescued to find the
assassin waiting for him. Dick won the fight, but the bad guy escaped.
Dick used the phone he'd swiped from him and hit redial - it rang the
Kravian statehouse. With some help from Oracle and a new costume from
Harold, Nightwing reached Kravia. He found the small country in the midst
of a "cultural cleansing" - genocide of dark skinned citizens.
Nightwing was quickly captured and imprisoned. He learned from his
cellmate, the country's Prime Minister, that his parents had witnessed a
murder while the circus was visiting Kravia. They were killed soon
afterwards (though not by anyone involved in the Kravian situation).
Nightwing got them out of the cell, but the Prime Minister was shot.
After escaping the country and getting back to Gotham, the Kravian Prime
Minister gave a statement to the press from his hospital bed. Dick thanked
Bruce for raising him the best he could. Nightwing was reborn. |
