There was a shootout
on the lawyer's boat. Nightwing was able to get him and his
daughter to safety, but Lady Vic escaped. Police Chief Redhorn got
on Soames because he still hadn't delivered Nightwing. Soames paid
Lady Vic what Marin owed her plus a retainer for his own boss.
Bruce Wayne met Lady Elaine Marsh-Morton at a party. |

Dick came home from
work to find Robin in his apartment. The two Boys Wonder went out
roof hopping together. After talking to Maxwell Reed, Marin's
lawyer, the boys did a stake out at a gambling den. Soames heard
of it and killed Reed. With the place tipped off that they were
there, Nightwing and Robin barely escaped. |

As Nightwing shook
down various no-gooders, Angel Marin's body turned up, with it's
head on backwards. Oracle gave Nightwing a name - Roland Desmond
aka Blockbuster. He called some Titans buddies for info on him,
and then tracked him down; Soames was at Blockbuster's side. |

Nightwing got a few
hits in on Blockbuster, but he was eventually defeated. Soames
convinced Desmond that killing him would only bring Batman (not a
good idea). Nightwing woke up in the middle of a biker gang. He
escaped; Blockbuster took them out single-handedly due to their
inability to kill him. |

A failed jumpline
put Nightwing in the center of a local mall. Something was going
down and he was caught in a shootout. Fear gas overcame him and he
had his nightmare again - a kid falling, he couldn't save him -
Scarecrow had been invited to town by Soames. |

Scarecrow tied up - he'd told Nightwing everything he knew.
Redhorn fired Soames from the police department after learning
things. Soames attacked Blockbuster, but had his head twisted and
neck snapped by Desmond in "self defense." Desmond
sustained 6 gunshot wounds in the attack. |

ran a shakedown. Blockbuster was not pleased that another hero was

Duo were ambushed in a meat packing plant searching for leads

Batman got them out
of the predicament, and Nightwing exploded on him for encroaching
on his new territory. Bruce left town. Roland Desmond enlisted the
services of Lady Vic and a cowboy named Stallion. Dick regretted
what he said to his mentor and called Alfred. |

With Batman back in
town, the two heroes tapped some of Desmond's associates lines
looking for something to tie him to the 21 dead gangsters. They
got the needed confessions and attacked. Batman took care of Lady
Vic and Stallion while Nightwing went after Blockbuster. Battling
it out under his house, Desmond knocked out a support beam,
bringing the structure down on himself. Batman and Nightwing left
him for dead. |
