Before it was shot
out, the media caught a glimpse of the signal during a press
conference with Acting Mayor Hull. Batman got Stacy and Probson
back inside as the sniper continued shooting. A reporter got to
Montoya and Allen - he'd received what appeared to be an email
from Joker, which was much like what they found in the sniper's
nest near the school. While they checked his laptop, he was
allowed to ride along with the detectives. Montoya got some
information on the gun from a database called "Oracle."
As they headed out, a live webcam popped up on all the
department's machines counting down to the next sniper hit. |

GCPD were able to
identify seven of the eight locations. The first was a bust - they
found a laptop with a message to Batman. The same was found at the
other locations. Mayor Hull ordered Akins to take down the Killer
Clowns - a group of ex-Joker henchmen on the north side of town.
Montoya and Allen got to the seller of the gun. He'd already been
roughed up by Batman. They got the call to go after the Killer
Clowns and realized it was just for show. They took down the
clowns as the countdown hit zero. Joker's laugh rang out after a
fake bang, and the clock began counting upwards. The camera
reactivated three hours later showing a TV reporter hanging
upside-down. Joker was soon arrested as he walked up to police
headquarters. |

Joker hinted while
being questioned that the reporter would be the victim of a bomb.
GCPD sent out teams to look for it. As the interrogation got
violent, Batman appeared to Akins to warn him that Joker would be
doing what he was doing publicly - the city had more or less just
re-opened for Christmas shopping. As they sent out more teams to
check toy stores, Joker killed his interrogator, grabbed a gun and
began shooting up the precinct. Sawyer stopped him with three
bullets to his back. Officers finally found the bomb and the
reporter with just over four minutes left. The store was evacuated
and Batman arrived. All survived, but were hospitalized. Akins had
the signal repaired as he spoke with Sawyer about her experiences
with Superman. |

Funeral services
were held for Probson and the sniper victims. Sawyer introduced
the squad to their new second shift commander - Lt. David
Cornwell. Crowe and Davies investigated a dead girl found in a
dumpster. They got a print out of a man who'd tried to user her
ATM card and showed it to a woman she was with. She said it was
her cab driver. He said she had no money and sent him to user her
card. When he returned, she was already dead. Lab results showed
she'd been poisoned. They found another girl dead from the same
poisoning who'd worked at the same place. |

Huntress reminded
Sgt. Del Arrazio that he had mob connections and that a family
member had major stock in the pharmaceutical plant where the two
dead girls worked. Del Arrazio spoke with Matheson (the CFO) and
got dirt on his uncle. While he was in with Matheson, his partner,
Bartlett, broke the case. She found a picture of one of the dead
girls kissing one of their chemists. The candy jar on her desk was
laced with the drug, and the other dead girl's desk was adjacent.
They had a confession by the end of the night. |

Detective
Driver was requested by a hostage taker. He and his
partner, Josie Mac, arrived at the scene. The man turned
out to be Driver's little brother's best friend. He'd
been homeless recently. He got the man to let the hostages
go, but had to give himself up in return. The man rattled
on about the voice in his head and his highschool baseball
team (he was one of two survivors when their locker
room was bombed). He then stuck a gun to his head and
fired. Driver was given the OK to reopen the unresolved
case. He and Josie found none of the evidence on the
case. When they checked, they found that Harvey Bullock
was the last to check it out. Later they (Josie) found
one box that included the suicide victim's cap - it
had one of the Mad Hatter's control devices in it. |

Driver
caught up with Bullock at a local bar after telling
Josie about him. The three went over the case. Bullock
had two theories - either it was over gambling or a
group of "geeks" from the school did it. Driver
and MacDonald interviewed Jervis Tetch at Arkham Asylum.
He all but admitted to bombing the team as a favor to
two of the "geeks." Back in his cell, Tetch
pulled out a phone and called to warn someone. Bullock
attacked Oswald Cobblepot at his club. |

Driver
and MacDonald questioned the two "geeks,"
Dustin Tran and Dennis Linden. They admitted to knowing
Jervis Tetch while they were in junior high, but said
they had nothing to do with the bombing. Montoya got
Bullock from his cell and took them to Driver and MacDonald.
After speaking with him, they visited the landlord of
the place where Tetch helped the junior high computer
club with projects 13 years before. Her daughter was
in the group. They went back to see Tetch. He was trying
to escape with the aid of a guard under mind control.
He fired on the police and was killed in return fire.
Tetch was also shot. Detective Chandler spoke with Angie
Molina, who'd written a book about her experience as
a hostage of the Joker. |

Evidence
found the phone in Tetch's cell. Connie, the daughter
of the landlord where Tetch used to live, visited MacDonald
and Driver. She thought her mother may be in with Tetch
somehow. She told them that her mother was extremely
strict. She'd gotten pregnant in high school and blamed
it on rape. The woman was arrested. Inside her home,
they found one of Hatter's hats. Bullock attacked Cobblepot
again. He shot two of his men and took him hostage.
Driver and MacDonald told him the real story from the
case and he eventually let Penguin go. They were able
to stop him from suicide after he put his pistol in
his mouth.
Chandler called Driver and they met. She told him they'd
taken Probson off of life support and that she'd met
with Monlina. |

With
the gang war full on, Montoya and Allen went after some
suspects. Montoya was shot by a man in a spider costume
(Black Spider, aka Johnny Lamonica), but her partner
killed him. Allen was questioned about it. Montoya was
released from the hospital (the shots hit her kevlar).
One of the survivors claimed that Allen had shot him
while he was handcuffed at the scene. Someone put evidence
up on an online auction site. |

Montoya
and Allen believed Jim Corrigan was setting him up.
Renee spoke with Josie about him - rumor was they had
a relationship. MacDonald refused to talk. Montoya tracked
Corrigan down at a bar and kicked his ass. He told her
he'd sold the bullet and gave her a name. They found
the collector (who had a huge collection of crime scene
memorabilia) and got the bullet back. Montoya had to
give her a bullet that was taken from her vest. |
