Superman
4: Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen
Jimmy and Lucy were having coffee when a man calling
himself Bloodsport shot up their diner. Jimmy contacted
Superman. When he arrived, Maggie Sawyer and MCU
were already on the scene. Sawyer told him close
to 25 were dead. Superman headed off on Bloodsport's
trail, Jimmy on Superman's trail.
Superman caught up with the maniac in a bowling
alley. He got the first hit in, but a pistol appeared
in Bloodsport's hand. He hit Superman with a Kryptonite
blast. Jimmy showed up and grabbed one of Bloodsport's
dropped guns. He tossed a smoke grenade and escaped.
Doctors were able to remove the Kryptonite slivers
from Superman. He told Jimmy he knew who was behind
the new villain. When Luthor heard the man had killed
around 50 civilians, he ordered him terminated -
Superman was to have been his only target. Superman
caught up with the mad man soon and realized he
wasn't creating weapons, he was teleporting them
somehow. While they fought, Luthor sent a tank to
take him out. Bloodsport neutralized the tank, but
while doing so, Superman took out his ability to
bring in new weapons.
Bloodsport's brother, Mickey, rolled in on his wheelchair.
As he got Bloodsport to stop, Jimmy told Superman
the story: Robert DuBois (Bloodsport) had been a
draft dodger. His brother Mickey had gone to war
for him and lost his limbs. Guilt had caused Robert
to lose it a bit and he'd been in and out of psychiatric
hospitals for years. Bloodsport ended his rampage.
Adventures
of Superman 427: Mind Games
Superman flew to Qurac hoping to "convince"
their president to stop exporting terrorism. Superman
went down - a telepathic being was reading his thoughts.
The creature, named Prana, attempted to reshape
his memories of Krypton so that he would believe
his parents wished him to rule Earth. Superman fought
back. Still dazed, he left the presidential palace
and returned to his hotel.
While he slept, Prana returned to his thoughts.
Hallucinations of Lex Luthor, Synapse, Metallo,
and Bizarro attacked him. He awakened even more
confused. Thinking of home, he took a shower - another
entered his mind. He believed he was in Japan fighting
a godzilla-like creature. Prana died, but his mate
continued his fight. Lana, Cat, and Lois then attacked
Superman. He defeated the visions, but the "Circle"
still questioned him...
Adventures
of Superman 428: Personal Best
Before leaving Qurac, Superman dismantled every
vessel in both their Air Force and Navy.
Clark and Cat watched a television interview of
Perry White. He'd uncovered evidence about a very
prominent mobster in Metropolis who was going to
trial soon.
Perry's son attempted to quit a street gang he was
in, and they pulled knives on him. He was saved
when a man in an overcoat fired a warning shot into
the air. He and his associates grabbed the boy and
drove off. Jerry's captors soon called White and
told him to retract anything about Jay Falk (the
mobster) or he'd be without children.
Superman roughed up some of Falk's men and got the
word to the mobster that he wanted White's kid back.
Perry struggled in attempt to write a retraction.
Superman saved the boy and returned him to his parents.
Jerry stormed out when he realized his father had
not tried to save him.
Action
587: Cityscape
Glenda Mark and Jason Blood visited a shop in Gotham
City. Glenda accidentally activated an item and
all around her began becoming part of an artificial
cityscape. Jason Blood released Etrigan.
Superman saw the growing city from space and headed
in to help. Realizing they were growing, Superman
punched one. Etrigan burst in and stopped him -
the damaged towers were bleeding. Etrigan told him
they were people and transmitted him back in time
to the year 1162 AD when the magic creating the
towers was conceived. Superman was to find Jason
Blood. He did, and explained to him the situation.
Blood led Superman to Morgaine Le Fay, who was masquerading
as a young girl. He was able to break her spell
and negate him even being there.
Blood and his companions looked up from the shop
and saw him flying overhead.
Superman
5: The Mummy Strikes
Clark woke up from a dream where Superman and Wonder
Woman teamed up to destroy some mechanical dogs,
then kissed. He realized he'd been thinking about
her quite a bit since the G. Gordon Godfrey situation.
At the office, Perry White told him to head to South
America - Lois was there and possibly in trouble.
Superman saw no trouble, so he "dropped off
Clark." Kent found Lois and was shown their
find: metal workings dating back 6000 years and
an elaborate structure deep below the Earth's surface.
When they placed a key into it's lock, a gargantuan
mummy attacked them. Clark got everyone to safety
then trapped himself in with the creature. After
fighting it for a while, he removed the key. An
explosion rang out; Lois and her group got to Clark
and sent him to get medical attention.
Superman
6: The Last Five Hundred
Clark woke up after two days of being unconscious.
He quickly realized that things weren't as they
seemed - "Lois" wasn't "Lois."
Some other beings had taken over the bodies of her
and the rest of her group. They were the last 500
of an ancient civilization (H'v'Ler'ni). When a
plague struck them, 20,000,000 fled Earth, leaving
500. They placed their minds in a giant robot and
waited for technology of Earth to near what they'd
done. Superman could not be possessed due to him
being unconscious during their return.
The giant robot (which had been mummified at some
point in the past) had to be defeated. Superman
went after it and it (Host) realized it needed the
minds which had left it to be at full power. It
called them back (returning Lois to her body, etc.)
and Superman continued to bash it. When he realized
all the souls wanted out, he faked being dazed.
The power of the 500 together overloaded Host and
it exploded.
AoS
429: Old Ties
As Superman saved a passenger plane from crashing
into Metropolis, The Circle plotted against him.
Cat showed up at Clark's apartment and invited him
to go skiing with her. He was on the way before
he realized it. While they had dinner, Cat saw a
news report and broke down. A former lover was being
indicted and he had custody of their son whom she'd
not seen in five years.
Superman headed to Hollywood to confront Cat's former
lover, Joe Morgan. In Morgan's apartment, Superman
was attacked by Concussion - a member of The Circle.
After a battle, Superman emerged victorious. The
boy wouldn't let him near his injured father, so
Superman called for an ambulance (Morgan had a punctured
lung).
In the hospital, Cat and her son were reunited.
Superman wondered if he was Clark Kent or if he
was Superman.
Action
588: All Wars Must End
Superman followed a hypersonic beacon to Midway
City. He soon realized through the destruction that
Hawkman and Hawkwoman had been calling for him.
They introduced him to Ved, who they said was a
world conqueror from their homeworld of Thanagar
- an invasion army would follow soon. Superman joined
them on his ship and they headed for the moon. Hawkwoman
told Superman about another of their captives -
Byth. The criminal they'd been chasing when they
first arrived on Earth.
They soon found the invasion fleet. Superman exited
their ship and began attacking the others. Katar
went outside the ship to make repairs when they
were hit. Byth escaped and attacked Shayera, but
she recaptured him and Ved. When Katar got back
inside, the ship began to fly on its own. He manually
enacted the overload plan, which activated all the
other ships' hyperdrives remotely. The fleet was
scattered across the universe, but they were still
heading for the sun.
Action
589: Green on Green
Arisia, a Green Lantern, found Superman in space.
She got him to their space station in hopes that
her teammates could save him. He awakened to find
himself in the presence of several GLs (including
Kilowog, Ch'p, Arisia, Salakk, Hal Jordan, John
Stewart, and Katma Tui). When he asked about the
Hawks, they told him they were 500 light years from
Earth. He proclaimed Earth was being invaded. They
explained the overload tactic which they believe
was the cause of some interference. The GLs could
not be bothered - they were looking for a new homeworld
for some beings they'd encountered who were the
last of their race, left without a home due to the
Crisis.
They decided to split up when they found a huge
lifemass heading toward Earth - Arisia, Katma Tui,
Hal, and Salakk went with Superman while the others
continued their quest for a planet.
The thing - which appeared to be a huge bacteria
- attacked them. It was yellow. They soon beat through
the cloud enough to find the mass was soil. Superman
realized it was from the meeting he'd had with the
Phantom Stranger (Action
585). The GLs encased the planetoid in their
power and moved it into deep space. In the cold,
the planetoid began to change - Salakk believe it
could be manipulated a bit more and turned into
a home for the creatures they'd come across.
