Flash
called a meeting at the Watchtower - Zatanna,
Hawkman, Black Canary, Martian Manhunter, Green
Lantern (Hal Jordan) and Green Arrow (Oliver Queen)
attended. He told them if they wouldn't tell Batman
about the mind wipe, he would. Manhunter didn't
know what they were talking about - he couldn't
read their minds due to magic.
Jordan told him about the Secret Society of Super-Villains
learning their identities. Zatanna erased their
names from their minds. After Dr. Light raped
Sue Dibny, they "got more aggressive."
He and Batman had also had memories removed. J'onn
went to see Batman, who already knew.
Star Sapphire woke up form a coma after five years.
Red Tornado commed the Watchtower - he was under
attack by Floronic Man. Canary, GA, and GL went
to his aide. They got to him, but were attacked.
Ralph Dibny (Elongated Man) was also being attacked.
Hawkman and Flash went to help.
The Secret Society of Super-Villains arrived where
J'onn was talking with Catwoman and Batman. They
tossed them their friends.

The
Wizard, Chronos, Star Sapphire, Felix Faust, Floronic
Man, and Matter Master attacked. Matter Master threw
Hawkman's shield into his shoulder. Green Arrow
pulled it out; Chronos set off the time-bomb arrow
in his quiver. Faust cut Catwoman's chest. The Society
vanished.
Batman took Catwoman to the cave. The rest of the
League appeared there soon afterwards. Batman told
them to leave and had to be restrained by GL from
fighting Hawkman. They went their separate ways
to protect their loved ones. Martian Manhunter returned
to the Watchtower to find Despero. |

Despero
and Martian Manhunter fought. He let the cat out
of the bag that he'd given the Secret Society their
memories back. Flash got to Lois Lane at the Daily
Planet building before it was bombed. Catwoman watched
in horror from the cave while Batman attempted to
contact Superman. He got there in time to save his
wife from falling to her death.
Together, the JLA took down the Society. Superman
knew what had happened to them (and Batman) and
pondered leaving the team like Batman did. With
the Society down for the count, Hawkman called for
a vote. |

Aquaman
joined the fight between Martian Manhunter and Despero
when it came to Earth. He battled him into the ocean
to get an edge.
The vote came to 3:3 with only Zatanna left. She
refused to mind wipe the villains a second time.
She then asked to be taken off the JLA's reserve
list. She traveled to Themyscira to speak with Supergirl
and Wonder Woman. She was still having trouble with
the fact that she'd taken a life.
Back at the Watchtower, the team realized there'd
been a battle and J'onn was missing.
Despero brought Manhunter and Aquaman to the Batcave
and took over Batman. He now controlled all three.

The
rest of the team appeared in the cave to battle
against Despero. He quickly took control of Black
Canary and Green Lantern. He also ripped the wings
from Hawkman. Red Tornado, who Batman had been piecing
back together, came online and joined the fight.
He seemed to be the only one Despero could not control.
Zatanna appeared and broke Despero's spell over
the League and contained him. The GLs took him to
Oa for containment, as the rest of the group discussed
the status of the JLA. Only Martian Manhunter, Superman,
and John Stewart had yet to quit.
Manhunter stayed to talk to Batman. Batman wondered
if he and Catwoman, who'd once been a member of
the Secret Society, were a result of the mind wiping.
John Stewart and Martian Manhunter went over some
names of who could fill out their new roster. Superman
arrived at the tower and the place exploded. |
