Maxwell
Lord, Checkmate's "Black King," had his
agents (including Sasha Bordeaux - Black King's
Knight) clean up the remains of Blue Beetle. Ted
Kord had hacked Checkmate's database and deleted
all their files on so-called superheroes and supervillains.
Lord began surveillance of all Kord's known associates,
especially Batman, who was listed as "Creator"
in their database.
Sasha was approached by Jessica Midnight - Black
Queen's Knight - about the death of Blue Beetle.
She hated Max Lord and questioned the motives behind
the assassination.
Wonder Woman picked up Michael Carter - Booster
Gold - as he got out of the hospital. No one had
heard from Blue Beetle in two days.
Bordeaux went to Paris to make a false trail on
Blue Beetle. While there, she sent Batman his broken
goggles with a note reading "You don't control
it anymore." He knew Beetle was dead. |

Batman
went to the JLA headquarters and met with Booster
Gold, Wonder Woman, and Superman. He told them Brother
I was stolen, and what it could do (super-intelligent
spy satellite created in response to his mind-wipe).
He told them Blue Beetle was dead. He also clued
them in on the real Checkmate, which had stolen
Brother I.
Maxwell Lord was furious that Batman had Blue Beetle's
goggles and knew it must have been an inside job.
Lord initiated a hit on Overthrow - a Russian metahuman.
An OMAC (One Man Army Corp) appeared and killed
the man. As Sasha walked in, the computer told Lord
an assassination attempt would be made on him. They
had a meeting - both kings and queens, with their
knights. The Black Queen's Knight (Midnight) pulled
a gun on Lord, but he used mind control and had
her kill both the White King and White Queen. Midnight
would take the fall for the assassinations.
In Chicago, Sasha met Batman. Lord saw them kiss
and sent OMACs to retrieve them. |

Batman
did not know what the OMACs were; Sasha assumed
he'd created them since he created Brother I. They
captured Sasha, and Lord gave them the order to
kill Batman. During their fight, Batman saw one
of them bleeding and realized they were not machines.
He lost his belt and was thrown into the lake. Superman
scooped him up and flew off to the satellite.
Guy Gardner found Booster Gold who was with Wonder
Woman looking for Brother I. They went off to get
the rest of their League together in order to avenge
their fallen teammate.
Batman stayed aboard the satellite to find this
new Checkmate. Wonder Woman headed to Russia to
confirm the death of Overthrow. Superman went to
search for the missing Brother I. Maxwell Lord gave
commands to Alpha One - Superman. |

Brother
I initiated KINGISDEAD protocol, OMACs began attacking,
the power grid controlling the United States' East
Coast went down, a nuclear sub targeted Taiwan,
and an underwater 7.2 earthquake created a tsunami
that would crash into Seattle. Dinah, from the Watchtower,
told Wonder Woman.
The OMACs began purging Checkmate.
Guy and Booster found Fire, who was already investigating
Blue Beetle's murder. She asked them if he'd had
any contact with Maxwell Lord recently.
Midnight and Bordeaux fought their way upstairs
to find Lord; Midnight realized Sasha was turning
into an OMAC. They got to his body and realized
he'd not set off the course of action, the computer
had. Brother Eye contacted Batman. It was now on
full automation, purging Earth of all metahumans
and extra-terrestrials. It showed him OMACs killing
Rocket Red Seven and Sasha. |

Brother
Eye ceased communications with Batman and switched
to phase II of KINGISDEAD. The Justice League -
Guy Gardner, Booster Gold, Metamorpho, Fire, and
Mary Marvel attacked the OMAC engaged with Martian
Manhunter. They stopped it, but others targeted
them. Rocket Red Seven was not dead, he got into
a GL created force field and detonated with three
OMACs. Fire was injured, Guy took her to get help.
Sasha converted into a third generation OMAC - one
on free of automation. She got to a terminal and
warned Batman that Brother Eye was turning on all
OMACs at once, all 1,373,462 of them. |

The
nanobot virus - what turned people into OMACs was
in full swing. Sasha worked at a way to stop them
without killing the hosts as Batman attempted to
contact the league. Fastball and Firefly were some
of the first casualties.
Sasha put a call out to all of the former Checkmate
for help and explained the Black King - the person
who perverted the organization - was dead. They
immediately began getting response. Midnight contacted
Batman on the two possible stops: a virus that would
disable communication between Brother Eye and the
nanobots, or an electromagnetic pulse big enough
to destroy most of the life on earth. Batman said
he'd handle it and cut communications. He called
in the Green Lanterns - Hal and John. He gave them
an EMP creator that the OMACs had originally wanted
to steal when they got the Kryptonite - they didn't
get it because it hadn't been delivered. Max knew
Ted was getting it, but didn't know when. He had
no use for the K since he already controlled Superman.
The GLs took it to a remote location in the Sahara.
They called in all the metas they could so to create
a big enough target for all the OMACs to follow
them.
Sasha spread the virus; Brother Eye shut down communications
causing OMACs to revert to human. Batman's plan
also worked, the EMP destroyed enough of the nanobots
to revert the rest of the OMACs to human form. Somewhere
around 200,000 OMACs were still under Brother Eye's
control. Brother Eye broadcast a video of Wonder
Woman killing Max Lord throughout the world. |

(internal) in OMAC 2: "My God ... Both Queens and the
White King. There hasn't been a full meeting in over a year..."
This means either Sasha has been in Checkmate for over one

to know this. |
