Chapter
One: Analog Heroes
1945. One of Hitler's top scientists was secretly
transported across the Pacific to avoid detection.
When the plane went missing, a rescue squad was
sent: The Losers (Captain Storm, Sarge Peterson,
Gunner Wilson, and John Cloud). The Losers themselves
crashed onto the island thought to be the location.
Once on land, they saw a dinosaur. Gunner was killed
in the attack; the biped creature left after losing
an arm. They soon found a cave that had been recently
used. They decided to camp there and wait for its
occupants to return. They awakened the next morning
to fire - flying dinosaurs attacked. Another Loser
died. The remainder, Cloud, happened upon Colonel
Flagg (the leader of the mission they were sent
to rescue). Flagg told him Peterson was dead, too.
Cloud was the last of the Losers. Flagg was also
the only survivor of his group. He had film of the
scientist's notes. Cloud got Flagg to the ship,
but he stayed behind, hell-bent on killing the monster.
The next morning, Cloud fell prey to one of the
booby traps Flagg had set. He drug himself up, armed
his grenades, and jumped into the mouth of the dinosaur.
1948. A young Hal Jordan met his hero, Chuck Yeager
- a man who'd flown with his father.
Chapter Two: State of the
Union Suit
1952. A bill had been passed making vigilantism
a federal offense. Rex Tyler - Hourman - was one
of the few who refused to give up his mask. He fell
to his death along with four policemen who chased
him. Roy Raymond was brought before the HUAC and
labeled a communist sympathizer. The Justice Society
of America was the HUAC's next target. Refusing
to reveal their secret identities, the JSA disbanded.
Superman and Wonder Woman had given in; Superman
had been tasked with helping take down the other
masked vigilantes. In Gotham City, the Bat-Man had
escaped the Man of Steel recently.
Led by Colonel Rick Flagg, Task Force X was formed
from the ashes of the Suicide Squad.
Chapter Three: Heavy Traffic
in Mig Alley
1953. A few hours after the
Korean War ended, American fighter jets were attacked.
Airman Hal Jordan's was hit. He ejected, but was
knocked unconscious and could not operate his parachute.
Another airman - Colonel Ace Morgan - ejected, got
to him, and pulled his ripcord.
Nearby, journalist Lois Lane and stowaway photographer
Jimmy Olsen covered the war. They were taking a
helicopter out, but it's pilot got word of Jordan
nearby needing help. Jordan landed but was attacked
by locals not knowing the war was over. Jordan,
having sworn to never kill, was forced to in order
to save his own life. Once aboard the helicopter,
he remembered the Korean words for "It's over.
Make war no more." |

ready for him.
Superman and Wonder Woman were sent to Indo-China
to clean up the war torn area. Wonder Woman had
been sent to recover a downed "nonexistent"
US plane when she discovered a camp holding women
as slaves. Once her mission was over, she freed
them. She handed the weapons over to the women and
allowed them to kill their captors. When Superman
didn't approve, she gave him her slant and told
him to leave.
1955. The alien, a shape-shifting telepath, quickly
got into the culture of America by use of the television.
He'd learned he could not return to Mars via Dr.

Barry Allen was called by his girlfriend, Iris.
She was at the same after party. Captain Cold attacked.
Allen was in costume and there in a Flash. Cold
warned Flash that six bombs would detonate across
the city in 30 seconds. He rounded up five and realized
the "sixth" was a wild goose chase. The
Flash returned and took down Captain Cold.
One of Hal Jordan's friends set him up an interview
with Ferris Aircraft. |

only survivor of a plane crash. He got out of bed
and hit the road on his motorcycle. At the crash

months, he wrote his brother about his experiences
there.

a flying dinosaur above the Statue of Liberty.
A man in Tennessee fought back against the KKK.
Chapter Seven: Paranormal
Paranoia
John Jones attended a film called Invasion from
Mars in order to telepathically feel what the audience
felt. John was the only person in the audience who
thought it was a comedy. He returned home to find
Batman waiting for him. They talked about the cult
thing they'd broken up a year and a half earlier.
Batman showed him a medallion he'd grabbed from
the leader and told Jones to stay on the case. Batman
knew he was an alien and threatened to take him
down like he'd done to "the one in Metropolis."
Superman and Wonder Woman were made honorary citizens
of the United States. After the ceremony, it was
hinted to Wonder Woman that she should disappear.
Carol introduced Hal Jordan to "the real Ferris
Aircraft" - an underground bunker full of unknown
vessels with dozens of men hard at work on them.
Flagg introduced him to King Faraday. He was told
"NASA" would be made public shortly and
they'd planned to send a man into orbit (in order
to combat the Russians sending a dog). Faraday told
him about the Erdel situation and their belief that
a Martian was on Earth. A Mars mission was planned.
With the medallion he'd been given by Batman, J'onn
was able to open the book he'd picked up at the
cult scene. It told of a Viking prince who'd washed
ashore on an island full of dinosaurs. |

Chapter
Eight: Government Issues
1958. The Flash was captured by government
agents, but he simply disappeared.
1959. While going over the John Henry case, John
Jones was given a new one - an engineer from Ferris
Aircraft was brought after shooting a cop saying
Martians were going to take over the Earth. During
interrogation, Faraday came in and collected the
man. After shaking his hand, J'onn knew it was
all true.
Jordan was removed from the Mars mission for "showboating."
John Henry baited the KKK. He was wounded in an
explosion and turned in by a child. He was burned
alive. A television news show reported on him,
his real name was John Wilson. He was a hero of
the Korean War and had taken up vigilantism after
his wife and child were killed by the Klan.
Superman found Diana on Paradise Island and asked
her why she'd "retired." She told him
she was forced out.
J'onn watched TV and saw the Flash take over a
station. He thanked everyone for the last three
years and told them he was retiring due to the
attempt made on his life by his own country. J'onn
decided he must go home. Through Gordon, he contacted
Batman and handed over his files.
Chapter Nine: The Flying
Cloud
Ferris Aircraft, under the guise of a missile
test, prepared to send the Flying Cloud to Mars.
J'onzz, attempting to stow away on the rocket,
was apprehended by King Faraday. The Martian gave
up his chance to get home and saved the man from
the launch. He woke up the next day in captivity.
Faraday was called back to mission control - one
of the astronauts had flipped out and damaged
the ship. Flagg reported back to Jordan that he'd
flown with his father and had taken him off the
mission due to its survival chances.
The Challengers of the Unknown blasted off in
hopes of helping the rocket touch down safely;
Faraday called them off. Superman was called in
when they didn't listen. Three warheads were aboard
the Flying Cloud. Superman got to the ship in
time to save the Challengers; Flagg self-destructed
the Cloud.
Hal Jordan met a mechanic at Ferris named Tom.
He saw a green blast and the simulator he was
in took off.

Chapter
Ten: S.O.S. Green Lantern
Hal was given a strange green ring by an alien named
Abin Sur who'd crashed on Earth. As he crashed,
the ring brought Jordan to him. Hal put it on and
realized the alien was not lying - it followed his
will. He was told he would need to recharge it once
per day and that he would be given more instruction
later. He buried the alien craft under a mountain
he was able to move.
While giving a tour to Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen,
the Challengers of the Unknown responded to a signal
- a dinosaur was attacking Cape Canaveral.
Chapter Eleven: Towards the
Centre
After Clark Kent did some investigation,
Superman met with Batman and Robin. A darkness covered
Paradise Island. King and J'onn J'onzz played chess
and discussed the impending doom.
As the Challengers approached the giant beast, they
were called off; Bishop Six (Superman) was on the
scene.
Beneath the ocean, a man commanded an army of sealife.
Chapter Twelve: The War That
Time Forgot
Wonder Woman crashed her plane near Superman.
A giant (approx. 25 miles) beast surfaced off the
coast of Florida and began attacking.
Chapter Thirteen: Danger is
our Business
Iris gave Barry his outfit and told him to show
the world he was a hero. King Faraday asked J'onn
to join him, he was going out with his men against
the monster. Green Arrow, the Sea Devils, and the
Blackhawks all headed to Florida. Carol found Hal
messing with one of their experimental aircrafts
and realized he was heading to Florida, too. They
kissed and he blasted off.
Chapter Fourteen: The Boy Scout's Last
The floating island continued to send out monsters.
Wonder Woman told Superman it had destroyed Paradise
Island and he would have to lead the forces against
it if it were to be defeated. After a rousing speech,
everyone was behind the Man of Steel. Superman went
toward the beast for a recon. He was blasted by
it and fell limp into the ocean. |

Chapter Fifteen: Shall Earth
Endure?
Lois Lane reported the fall of Superman then broke
down. The Challengers attempted to console her.
Dr. Leslie Thompkins released Adam Strange from
Arkham Asylum. He visited Ray Palmer and asked him
to help.
Hal had to crash land the flying saucer. After being
unable to fix it, he ordered the ring to power it.
King Faraday apologized to the Flash; Barry decked
him.
Ray Palmer had been working on a device that would
shrink matter, but there was a flaw: once shrunk,
the matter was unstable.
Chapter Sixteen: The Dawn
Patrol
The plan was worked out. One flight would go in
to create a diversion, while another dropped warheads
on the Centre. As this went on, the Flash was to
rush around it blasting it with Palmer's device.
Faraday told the group the Centre was merely a scout
- if it went free, others would follow.
As the planes went in, Faraday tried to get J'onn
to safety. The monster possessed him. Faraday was
able to draw it out of the alien, but it cost his
life. J'onzz took flight and began attacking the
creature - he vowed his friend would not die in
vain.
Chapter Seventeen: The Pure
Rugged
The three planes inside the Centre began to fall
apart. Jordan gave up on waiting for his message
from the battery and used the ring to its fullest.
He was able to save one of his wingmates, but Captain
Nathaniel Adam was killed. The Flash was a success;
the Centre began to contract. Wonder Woman saved
him from his own speed. Green Lantern cast a shield
around the Centre so its explosion would not harm
the people nearby. As he poured himself into it,
the Guardians revealed their mission and purpose
to him. He hurled it into space.
With the imminent threat gone, a celebration erupted
around the world. King Arthur of Atlantis showed
up on the coast and gave them Superman - he'd rescued
the hero.
Epilogue: The New Frontier
With the dawning of the 1960s came the JLA and the
Teen Titans. A new frontier was gained. |
