Elongated
Man (Ralph Dibney) and Firehawk were on a stakeout.
Below their perch, they watched a possible arms
trade. While waiting, he told her how he and his
wife, Sue, met. Bolt, with the help of the Calculator
(who fancied himself as the "Oracle" of
the bad guys) moved in to complete the deal. He
teleported to the location. The sellers began shooting
at him. Firehawk went down to intervene, but Ralph
got a call from his wife. He demanded Firehawk fly
him home. As Bolt lay on the ground with gunshot
wounds, so did Sue Dibney. Her killer knew who he
was killing. Ralph found her body (with burns over
42%) and her birthday present to him: a positive
pregnancy test.
Clark Kent visited his parents when he received
a call on his JLA signal device. Nightwing was visiting
his parents' grave site when he got the call. The
two Green Arrows were sparring with Ted Kord when
they heard. Tim Drake - Robin again - heard it from
TV, while watching with his father. Oliver got word
to Ray Palmer. Batman found nothing at the scene:
no forced entry, no alarms tripped. The rest of
the guys (Mister Miracle, Atom, the Ray, Animal
Man, etc.) began their investigation. After the
funeral, the different teams (Outsiders, Titans,
JLI, etc.) split up to check leads. Ralph believed
Dr. Light was the killer. |

Elongated
Man's group - Zatanna, the Atom, Hawkman, Green
Arrow, and Black Canary - prepared. Wally (the Flash)
and Kyle (Green Lantern) were caught spying on them.
They told the youngsters why Dr. Light was their
target: he'd raped Sue years back on the Justice
League satellite. They caught him, but he threatened
her and everyone else's loved ones. Zatanna put
a spell on him to affect his memory and brain functionality.
Dr. Light, free again, purchased the protection
of Slade Wilson - Deathstroke the Terminator.
Dr. Mid-Night called Oracle. His autopsy showed
Sue was dead before she was burned. Dr. Light could
not have been the killer. |

Deathstroke
took down the Flash as he attacked with a sword
to the torso. Zatanna was next. Then Hawkman, Green
Arrow, Black Canary, and the Atom were neutralized.
As he was taking on GL, the rest of the team regrouped.
Dr. Light regained his memories. Wally forced Oliver's
hand and he told the kid about some of the other
people who they'd had to mind-wipe.
The Calculator, Captain Boomerang, and Merlyn talked.
Robin came home; his father noticed his black eye.
The Atom's ex-wife, Jean Loring was hanged in her
home. |

The
Atom got to Jean in time to save her. The League
ran their tests, and for the second time in four
days, their security systems had been defeated.
Superman saw a uniqueness about the noose and called
Oracle. She pinned it down to Slipknot (real name
Christopher Weiss). Slipknot, who lost an arm to
the Suicide Squad, was in prison. Arrow and Wonder
Woman questioned him, but he knew nothing. Dr. Light
and Slipknot, the two apparent attackers, had only
the Suicide Squad in common.
The "bad guys" continued to watch the
goings-on. Captain Boomerang met the son he never
knew he had. Batman went over his notes with Alfred.
He was trying to determine who could be benefiting
from the attacks. Tim (Robin) called in sick to
spend some time with his father. Green Arrow went
to Hal Jordan's grave so he could contact the Spectre.
He insisted his old friend punish the guilty. He
couldn't even tell Oliver who the killer was. He
joked with Hal, asking him when he was "coming
back."
Lois Lane received a letter telling her she was
next. |

The
League attacked the "bad guys." Hawkman
took down Monocle, Flash got Merlyn, and Deadshot
was hit in the neck with his own bullet when he
fired on Green Lantern. None of the teams were making
any progress with the suspects they captured. Firestorm
was killed in combat. He exploded after being stabbed
through with a sword.
Captain Boomerang worked with his newly found son.
When one of the throws went awry, he learned his
kid had speed. Robin talked to his father before
going out on patrol. Soon afterwards, Jack Drake
called Oracle. Someone sent him a package containing
a gun. She got word to Batman and Robin; they headed
that way. Captain Boomerang killed Drake, but Drake
got a shot off that killed Boomerang. |

Robin
got to his father too late, his father was dead
at age 43. Captain Boomerang's son was turned away
from the scene. The League kicked themselves for
letting Boomerang defeat them. Boomerang's son took
over his father's name. Flash tried to get some
info from Green Arrow about Batman and Dr. Light's
mind wipe. Oliver told him they'd also taken Bruce's
memories from the incident. When he found out what
they were doing, Batman went berserk. They voted
unanimously to have Zatanna take that night from
him.
Batman found what appeared to be Calculator's headquarters,
but he'd already split with all his equipment. The
autopsy came back on Dibney, she'd died from a blocked
bloodstream in her brain. Even before he heard that,
Batman's evidence began to point to the Atom. |

Ray
Palmer, who'd become closer to his ex-wife, caught
her in a lie - she asked him about the note and
weapon that was sent to Jack Drake. Ray knew it
was never mentioned and got her to confess - she
found one of his old costumes and somehow temporarily
gained his powers. He said she only wanted to hurt
Sue in hopes of getting him to run to her own aid.
He had her committed to Arkham Asylum.
Wally, who was still having problems with Batman
being mind wiped, invited Oliver to dinner with
him and Clark. Everyone seemed to try a little harder
to get along and to make time for each other. |
