On Oa, an enlightened man named Krona viewed what had been forbidden to all - creation. The universe exploded and an anti-matter universe was created. The Oans decided to right their wrongs, and created the Psions and Manhunters - both failures - then the Green Lantern Corps as their police force for the universe. A schism between the Oans wanting to battle evil and those wanting to destroy it occurred. Those wanting to destroy it were called the Controllers, the others, the Guardians. Worlds away, another scientist - this one named Pariah - witnessed the dawn of creation. He was swept into the antimatter universe where he lived for over a year. On primitive Earth, the immortal Vandal Savage was created when a bolt of light struck the Neanderthal he once was. The magical land of Atlantis, led by the sorcerer Arion, waged war against aliens and sunk beneath the sea. In Egypt, the sorcerer Shazam bestowed upon his student, Teth-Adam, great magical powers. These powers corrupted the student and he became known as Black Adam. Thousands of years later, the battle of the Olympian Gods ended, creating New Genesis and Apokolips. In the Vegan System, the Goddess Xhal was created by the Psions. During the Trojan Wars, the Amazons - aided by Poseidon after being deceived by Hercules - disappeared to Paradise Island. A green meteor crashed into Tibet. Etrigan the Demon was borne as the Age of Camelot dwindled. Mount Michelson, an alien ship, crashed into an Alaskan mountain. It's pilot was frozen. As sorcery and magick began to fade on Earth, Gemworld was created. After America became free of British rule, it began expanding westward. New heroes emerged. Jonah Hex, a bounty hunter, fell into a time warp in 1875 and appeared in 2050. The seventh Brother Blood came to power in Zandia. As WWI ended, Dr. Occult became more and more powerful, mixing science and sorcery. Abin Sur became Green Lantern of Earth's sector. On the dying planet Krypton, Jor-el and his wife, Lara, blasted their child off to a new world just before their's was destroyed. Hitler's Nazi Germany came to power; the Golden Age of Heroes dawned. Zatara the Magician, the Crimson Avenger, Hop Harrigan, the Sandman, Doll Man, Steel, and the Flash gained notoriety. Prince Khufu of Egypt, his lover Shiera, and their enemy, Hath-Set were reincarnated. Police Detective Jim Corrigan was killed on duty, but joined with the spirit of the Spectre. Johnny Thunder was given control of a mystic Thunderbolt. Rex Tyler invented the Miraclo pill, which gave him 60 minutes of unparalleled strength as the Hourman. Black Condor and the Atom became famous crime fighters. Kent Nelson was trained by an ancient Egyptian sorcerer known as Nabu and became Dr. Fate. Alan Scott found a green meteor and fashioned a ring from it. Knowing nothing of the Guardians or GLC, he called himself the Green Lantern. The Justice Society of America was founded by President Franklin Roosevelt. An equally powerful group known as the Injustice Gang formed. The All Star Squadron was created when America joined WWII. Book Two After World War II ended, the Golden Age of Heroes ended when the Justice Society disbanded rather than give their secret identities to the courts. A Kryptonian rocket crashed in Smallville, Kansas. Nearby farmers took the child in as their own. A lighthouse keeper found a shipwrecked woman. They fell in love and had a child. A gunman shot Thomas and Martha Wayne leaving their only child both a witness and orphan. A mystic known as the Phantom Stranger watched over these three children. J'onn J'onzz, a Martian Warrior, was accidentally teleported to Earth. He went into hiding as an earthling. On Paradise Island, Diana was created from Clay. Dan Garrett - an archeologist, found a beetle scarab in Egypt. An interdimensional demon, Trigon, took a wife. The Monitor found Lyla shipwrecked and took her as his own. A new Age of Heroes began as Clark Kent, a farmboy from Kansas moved to Metropolis and debuted as Superman. The orphan from Gotham City devoted his life to fighting crime and became the Batman. Police scientist Barry Allen survived an explosion to learn he had become the fastest man alive - the Flash. Abin Sur's ship crashed into Earth. His ring brought him test pilot Hal Jordan. Jordan became Earth Sector's Green Lantern. Physicist Ray Palmer became the Atom. Katar Hol and his wife Sayera Thal came to Earth from Thanagar and became Hawkman and Hawkwoman. Aquaman emerged as the child borne from the lighthouse keeper and the shipwrecked woman. Captain Atom was thrust forth in time from the 1960s. Oliver Queen was shipwrecked on an uninhabited island and learned the skill of archery to survive. He returned to the US and became Green Arrow. Dan Garrett died, leaving everything to his student Ted Kord - the second Blue Beetle. Archaeologist Adam Strange was accidentally transported to the world Rann, where he became their greatest hero. Inspired by the JSA, heroes banded together and called themselves the Justice League of America. Some of their younger associates created the first Teen Titans. Boston Brand was killed and resurrected as Deadman. The Doom Patrol, Suicide Squad, and Secret Six formed. Brainiac was created. It was destroyed, but another was soon created. Thorn, Black Lightning, and Swamp Thing first appeared. A young boy named Billy Baston uncovered a secret unknown to man for countless years. Four years after the Teen Titans formed (and one year after they disbanded), a New Teen Titans formed. Batman formed the Outsiders, and continued to work with the Justice League. Universes began to be destroyed. With only five remaining, heroes gathered and defeated the Anti-Monitor - the being who ruled the antimatter universe. The five universes merged, altering history. The Justice League became International. Wonder Woman was recreated from clay after she was blasted in the Crisis.
