Batman went in on
a possible hostage situation - a man had invited all
participants in his wife's death years before (she died giving
birth to their handicapped son): a nurse, an orderly, a doctor
(Thomas Wayne), and a lawyer. Batman rescued the man when the
participants tried to kill him so that he couldn't sue/blackmail
them. He had no ill intentions to the group, he only wanted for
them to show compassion. |

Two prisoners
(Mortimer Kadaver and Bodie) escaped Blackgate while Batman
chased "the Human Flea." Kadaver took Bodie to a crypt
where he lived while not in prison. Bodie agreed to have some of
his animal rights friends help them on a job. |

The escapees
raided a flea circus and killed the owner. The Human Flea went
out to avenge his grandfather (the owner). He teamed up with
Batman after giving his word that he'd turn himself in. Kadaver
planned to unleash a plague on Gotham with the fleas. Batman
stopped the plot at a theatre with Human Flea's help. |

visited in his office by a dying bum who knew he was the Batman.
The man saw Batman's mask removed during a fight the night
before. Thinking the information might prove profitable, he
tried to sell it. The plan backfired - his payment was a mortal
stab wound. Batman's identity was to be auctioned off by the man
who got the info. While Bruce Wayne was in Europe, Batman
stopped the auction. |

assumed name. Anarky broke out of a juvenile detention center
and decided that Batman had created all his enemies, therefore
should be taken down. Jean Paul Valley went out as Batman.
Scarecrow's experiment left his subjects under his complete
control. Together, they went on a rampage. |

Scarecrow demanded
Gotham to declare him a god. He contacted Commissioner Gordon
and threatened him with a tanker-truck full of fear gas (which
was a diversion - he planned on unleashing in Gotham City's
water supply). Batman zeroed in on him and caught him. Anarky,
who was there first, captured them both. Fear gas struck both
Batman and Anarky; Jean Paul's programming defeated the gas and
he took down Scarecrow and Anarky. (continued

vigilante named Hood. Dr. Kinsolving's kidnapper, Benedict Asp,
began testing her healing powers. He was able to amplify and
reverse the healing, causing death. Hood delivered the info on
Asp. Wayne continued therapy. |
