A Blackgate inmate
named Donnegan built a dummy from the wood of the prison's old
gallows pole after reading a book on ventriloquism. He soon began
to believe that "Woody" had a mind of his own. Years
later, Donnegan was assigned a cellmate - Arnold Wesker, who was
in for "accidentally" killing a man in a bar fight. One
night while Donnegan slept, Woody talked Wesker out of suicide. |
