| Storyline |
Bruce Wayne, still wanted
for the murder of Selina Kyle, ran into his old boss - James Gordon at the
funeral of one of his old partners. While at a charity function, Barbara
Gordon ran into the mayor's wife and realized she was Bianca Steeplechase
(aka The Joker and the murderer of Dick Grayson). Barbara, going through
some difficult times mentally, asked Bruce to move out. Batman went after
some drug dealers and found himself in the middle of a hostage situation
when the man he was after (Croc) grabbed two kids and held them at
gunpoint. Batman was forced to let him get away. Watching him leave,
Batman saw the lounge singer known as Black Canary and realized she was
Dinah Lance, the widow of his old partner. He began working with her (she
was undercover FBI). Barbara cut her hair off and went out in Dick's old
costume. Batman and Black Canary went after Croc to stop his drug ring and
free his hostages. Canary was killed in the sting and Batman was captured
when one of the hostages got into a clown outfit to reveal she was Harley
Quinn - an associate of the Joker. As they began to test their new drugs
on Bruce, Barbara crashed in dressed as Robin. She saved Bruce and killed
Joker (Bianca) in the struggle. Commissioner Gordon took a leave of
absence to be with his daughter; newly elected mayor Harvey Dent appointed
Bruce Wayne the new police commissioner. Later, Bruce got a message from
Dinah - she'd escaped. |
