| Storyline |
Three years
since Bruce Wayne's "death," the United States is under its 19th
month of martial law. The government has become more of a socialist state
where everyone has become well-paid slaves. Carrie Kelley (formerly Robin,
now Catgirl) breaks into a laboratory and breaks free Ray Palmer - The
Atom. Superman does not approve. The President turned out to be computer
generated. The "Batboys (former Sons of Batman)" next attack and
rescue mission was to get back Barry Allen - the Flash. Superman couldn't
take anymore and went to talk to Bruce. He dashed into the cave and was
met by the former heroes that were now on Bruce's side. Green Arrow
(Oliver Queen), The Atom, and the Flash were warm-ups. Batman took him
down. Later, while Superman was busy with Braniac, Batman and his squad
attacked Arkham. John Jones (the Martian Manhunter) was killed. Superman
was near death when his daughter (whom he'd had in secrecy with Wonder
Woman) showed up and defeated the monster. The Batsquad took out the
National Guard and won a victory in front of the public. Batman ordered
everyone (civilians) to take a stand. Batman allowed himself to be taken
hostage by one of the tyrants - Lex Luthor. While in captivity, Hal Jordan
- Green Lantern - took control of every destructive satellite, etc. and
destroyed them. Luthor was killed. All the old superheroes realized that
Bruce had been right all along - they were criminals. Carrie was attacked
by the Joker beast (who'd killed the Martian Manhunter) in the Batcave.
The creature turned out to be a genetically enhanced Dick Grayson, who
fought to the death with Batman. Superman saved Bruce. He and his daughter
pondered what they were going to do with their new world. |
