storyline Carleton LeHah was awakened from surgery - it had been six months since the explosion in the oil refinery. Jean Paul and company moved into Kinsolving's former home (Wayne moved her and her attendants to Europe). Nightwing came in and trained with Azrael. LeHah once again became the embodiment of the Demon Biis. Azrael and Brian were attacked; Azrael was incapacitated and captured.

Tracker caught up with Azrael and Catwoman. They formed a truce. Azrael, on a lead from the first survivor's journal, led them to a yacht housing a gang member who also survived the Greenland outbreak. They found him, but he tried to show them he was immortal by stabbing himself in the chest. He wasn't immortal.

Gotham doctors realized there'd be no cure. Azrael saw a magnification of the virus and realized he'd seen it before. Lilhy began searching through the texts Brian had taken from the Order of St. Dumas. She was able to translate what they believed to be the antidote. Azrael grabbed it up and headed to Gotham City. He delivered it to a hospital and it had a 100% success rate.

storyline A volcano on the island began to erupt - everyone was ordered to leave or get to the coast. Azrael, under hypnotic control, fought his doctor's brother. After defeating him, he began getting people to safety. Orchid, his brother, and Azrael were not among the people who made it off the island before it was destroyed.

storyline Jean Paul returned home, leaving his costume behind. Brian believed he might be "cured" of Azrael. Nomoz, who'd been watching them for some time, reported back to The Order of St. Dumas and Brother Rollo. Rollo sent out assassins for Azrael and Lilhy. Jean Paul enrolled in college and moved back into his old apartment. While moving in, he asked Lilhy on a date. The assassins struck.

storyline Nomoz saved Jean Paul, but Lilhy and Brian were taken. Nomoz helped save Jean Paul's friends after he agreed to take down Brother Rollo. Jean Paul asked Batman for help, which he was denied. Batman instead gave him money, transportation, a new costume. Even after putting on the costume, Jean Paul was not Azrael.

storyline Bruce dropped the quartet (Jean Paul, Lilhy, Brian, and Nomoz) off in the African desert. Inside the strong hold where Jean Paul first learned of his heritage, Nomoz began to hypnotize him. The Order of St. Dumas attacked; Azrael finally emerged.
