Nightwing #152

Cover Date: March 2009
Subtitle: Eminence Front
Writer(s): Peter Tomasi
Artists(s): Don Kramer, Jay Leisten
Storyline: Nightwing was attacked by ninjas in the batcave. After rendering them all unconscious, he spoke into one's camera - the viewer was Ra's al Ghul. He wanted to see Nightwing face to face and asked for a temporary truce. Dick obliged and met him in the Thar Desert above one of the Lazarus Pits.
Ra's took him below the surface and they chit-chatted until Nightwing confronted him about the purpose of the meeting. Ra's wanted to know for sure that "the Detective" was, indeed, dead. Nightwing's expression gave him all the answer he needed. After a sword fight, Nightwing prepared to leave. Ra's offered him the sword he'd used, which was once used by Batman. He refused it.
The sword was waiting for him when he arrived in the cave. Ra's referred to Dick as "Detective."
