storyline The Riddler takes hostages at a gentleman's club on Christmas Eve. He figured that Batman and Robin would be there in their true selves, but was mistaken. He was brought down and his heist was foiled.

storyline The Penguin faked a hostage situation at the Gotham Zoo. There, he began freeing the birds by placing some of the Mad Hatter's controlling devices on them. He planned to export them all back into the wild, but Batman stopped the heist, and the penguin was put back in jail.

storyline Joker broke out of Arkham to collect on a $20 World Series bet when he heard an Arkham doctor say the Riddler was the most clever person in custody. Joker took offense and attacked Nygma and Dr. Sprang. Just as it appeared he'd bested the Dynamic Duo, one of his jokes backfired on him and he was captured.

storyline A Gotham tabloid prints that Batman has fired Robin and is looking to replace him. The next week is filled with Robin wannabes; one is captured and held for ransom. Batman and the real Robin track down the mook and save the boy.

storyline Arnold Wekser and Scarface escaped Arkham. With the Riddler's help, Batman and Robin tracked him down to his family's home. Scarface was out to break all ties that Arnold had with his family, so that he'd be all the Ventriloquist had. Scarface shot up the house and destroyed the only remaining picture of Arnold's mother. Arnold shot Scarface in the head, and Batman took him in.

storyline When Harley Quinn tried to spring her pets from the Gotham Zoo, Robin was quick to show up. In no time, he'd been kissed by Poison Ivy and was completely under her spell. He began planning robberies and such for the pair. Harley got tired of being left out and gave him the antidote. Batman tracked them down as Robin came to his senses and they caught Ivy and Harley.

storyline As Barbara Gordon is leaving her chemistry lab, Talia breaks in to kidnap her professor (who'd left the services of her father). Barb got into her Batgirl costume and tried to save the day. Talia completely demolished her. As a last-ditch effort, Batgirl whipped up some tear gas and saved her professor. Talia escaped before the police could show up.

storyline Talia came for Batman saying her father was to release a virus to kill all humanity. Batman went with her, but told Robin to stay behind. He was able to get to and destroy the chemical plant that Ra's al Ghul was using to manufacture the virus, but the Demon had already sent a man to the mainland with it. Robin showed up and picked up his partner. They tracked down the plane and captured the virus.

storyline Batman and Robin found a man-bat in the Batcave. They went after it with the antidote, but Batman was convinced it wasn't out to hurt anyone and let him go free.

storyline Bane, now free of Venom, attempted to win the affection of Batman by killing his enemies. When Batman said there was to be no killing, Bane called him weak. Batman and Robin double-teamed him and took him in before he could kill Rupert Thorne.

storyline Scarecrow attempted to hijack a network broadcast of a popular band's reunion concert. The night prior, he hit Batman with fear gas. Luckily, Batman's antidotes saved him and let him stop the broadcast.
