Wonder
Woman 20: Who Killed Myndi Mayer
A media circus broke out when word hit that Myndi Mayer,
publicist to the stars, was found dead. A suspect list
grew out of her list of clients and employees. Steve
London, a recently fired art director was the prime
candidate: he was found drunk in a nearby hospital with
a stab wound. A bloody letter opener was found in Mayer's
office and he'd been seen in the building.
London told the police a meeting had been called a few
days prior: 153 lawsuits had been brought against the
firm. He and several others were fired. He and another
got liquored up and he didn't remember anything afterwards.
Diana began her own investigation of one of Mayer's
top aides, "Skeeter" LaRue.
The murder weapon was found. London's fingerprints were
all over it. Another former employee who'd been with
London on the night of the murder told investigators
she found papers tying LaRue to drug trafficking. She
was fired after showing the paperwork to Mayer.
Diana showed up at police headquarters insisting that
they let her use her lasso on London. London's wife
refused; LaRue (real name Michael Boyd) was found dead.
Diana was there with him. When questioned, she said
Skeeter had confessed to her that he'd killed Mayer.
As he was leaving her office, London came in. He stabbed
the man with the letter opener, then put his prints
on the gun.
The investigators told Diana that the woman was dead
before either of them arrived - of a cocaine overdose.
Wonder
Woman 21: The Cosmic Migration
Diana began to doubt her mission and her purpose. As
she and Julia spoke, her messenger pigeon appeared.
She was needed at home urgently.
Hermes met with Hercules as they watched Diana return
home. She, her mother, and Menalippe were summoned to
Olympus. The gods were planning a "cosmic migration"
where they would leave their plane of existence and
cut themselves off from Earth. The Amazons voted and
were behind their decision. With the help of Diana,
Olympus was destroyed so it could be rebuilt anew. Hercules
promised they'd return.
Wonder
Woman 22: Through Destiny's Door
The Amazons voted to allow "man's world" to
enter their culture. Back in the US, Vanessa flunked
a geometry test, got dumped by her boyfriend, and her
mother began dating one of her teachers. While driving
home, Diana lifted the car and flew them the rest of
the way. She invited them to Themyscira. She then looked
for Etta Candy (who was on a special assignment) and
Steve Trevor (who wasn't answering his calls).
A small silver sphere flew through the area and touched
two people.
Annual
1: Amazons
Diana picked up Julia and Vanessa, then flew them to
her home. The two mortals were given the opportunity
to learn and participate in many aspects of Amazon life.
Watching the two made Hippolyte remember something she'd
never told Diana - years before she was born, Hippolyte
and Antiope came across a banished queen from a nearby
land. Hippolyte was sent back to rule while Antiope
escorted the woman and her daughter home. When they
got to Lemnos, it had been destroyed. Everyone was dead.
The once-queen died at the sight of her home decimated.
Julia learned that she had been on the island before.
An Amazon named Pythia returned to her memories of when
she fell overboard from a boat in a storm. She was brought
to the island and nursed back to health before being
returned to her parents.
The night before Diana took Vanessa and Julia home,
she told her sisters about another adventure she'd had
with Steve Trevor. Together, they'd uncovered a plot
to destroy military aircraft. His new job (safety inspector)
was too demanding for him to have joined them.
Back at home, Diana attended Myndi's funeral and fulfilled
her request - Diana scattered her ashes around Paradise
Island.
Wonder
Woman 23: A God among Men
After giving a press conference to announce the opening
of her world to the world of man, Diana was approached
by a hooded figure. The woman realized Diana was not
who she was looking for and vanished. Diana then realized
Hermes was in town. Hermes performed miracles in front
of people, showering them with riches, healing children,
and stopping thieves. After he and Julia had words,
Diana left with him.
Hermes returned later (Diana had left to be with her
people) and was taken by a young woman who professed
her family's belief in the gods. At her father's bedside,
Hermes was captured - the woman was Euryale (a Gorgon)
and her "father" was Phobos. Hermes was placed
in a dungeon with Ixion the Assassin.
Wonder
Woman 24: Combat Zone
Using the power from Hermes' staff, Phobos set Ixion
free. The giant rampaged through the streets. Hermes
was able to contact Diana, who headed toward Boston.
She was able to take the beast by surprise; Hermes was
freed. He killed the Gorgon. Wonder Woman was able to
subdue and capture Ixion. Hermes told her he must be
imprisoned beneath Paradise Island. Diana prayed for
an alternative and it was granted. The beast freed itself
and was destroyed by fighter jets.
Elsewhere, Lt. Candy deciphered what she believed to
be an invasion plan from outer space.
