Storyline

Action 674
On the planet Kletus-4, Superman stopped an alien from getting too frisky with a female who didn't return his affections. He was recognized and called for.
Draaga heard he was close and set out to either kill him or die trying (in order to fulfill his death-rite). Maxima overheard him and offered her assistance in his search.
Jimmy Olsen, out of a job, was living with Bibbo, who'd won the lottery.
Hellgrammite watched as Superman (who seemed to be in two places at once) took down some Intergang members. He handed them over to Inspector Turpin.
The Superman in space was led to the site where he and another alien had buried a Cleric who'd held the Eradicator. Superman tried to explain he wasn't Superman - he only shared his appearance and some of his memories. Draaga attacked him. During the fight, Superman rendered himself invisible, and later was revealed to be a female - matrix Supergirl. They were teleported to Warworld.
A hooded man put them in the arena and had them fight. As they fought, he summoned Maxima - he'd defeated her people. Supergirl defeated Draaga; the hooded man revealed himself as Brainiac and used mind-control to make her think Superman was her enemy.

TMoS 9
An explosion rocked Metropolis. Superman flew out to find Brainiac's head ship flying over the city. Professor Hamilton headed to his lab as Superman did battle with the alien ship. Superman got inside and was attacked by robots. Gangbuster and others helped get people on the streets to safety.
Jimmy bumped into a man from Newstime. He liked his photos and told him to stop by his office after the attack was over.
Superman crashed Brainiac's ship in to the bay, but learned the true plan - Brainiac was bringing Warworld to Earth.

Superman 65
Brainiac captured Metron, who was surveying the damage done to Almerac.
Superman and Guardian were cleaning up some of the damage at Cadmus when Metron's mobius chair arrived there. Lightray and Orion arrived looking for Metron. When they learned he'd been captured by Warworld, they headed there to save him. Superman was unable to convince them to stay and help.
Brainiac's forces captured the new gods, and he sent a telepathic image of them to Superman. Superman headed out to assemble a strike force. He visited Professor Hamilton and asked Lex Luthor, II for help.
Deathstroke signed on hoping to clear his head from his son's death. Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and Captain Marvel were next. Dozens of others arrived after hearing Superman's call for action. He briefed them on Brainiac and Warworld.
Brainiac's ship captured Aquaman.

AoS 488
Superman and his strike team took down Brainiac's ship; Dubbilex appeared on the mobius chair to tell them Aquaman was inside, but it was booby trapped. Mr. Miracle got them inside; they saved Aquaman. As the heroes headed to meet Warworld in the head ship, Brainiac teleported some of his champions to Earth. Batman remained there with a team.
The headship attacked Warworld; Brainiac got it in a tractor beam and landed it in the arena. Fighting broke out between his minions and the heroes. They split into two teams - one to fight in the arena, one to locate the captive new gods.
Brainiac lost his mental hold of Draaga and Supergirl; Draaga agreed to help overthrow Brainiac when Superman agreed to fight him afterwards.

Action 675
Guy Gardner, Flash, and others were soon under Brainiac's control. Two motherboxes appeared on the mobius chair (which Dubbilex was on). A team of Luthor's super troopers joined the fight on Earth against the invaders.
Dubbilex used the mobius chair to teleport the head ship deep into Warworld. Superman and Supergirl went in hoping to shut down the control center. Brainiac was furious and ordered Maxima to go after them.
Superman broke Kilowog free of Brainiac's control; Supergirl and Mr. Miracle got Big Barda free. Brainiac's rage grew - Dubbilex could feel it.

TMoS 10
Maxima took down Supergirl; Superman was attacked by members of his own team who were now being controlled by Brainiac. Draaga and Dubbilex freed Orion, Metron, and Lightray. Dubbilex then telepathically informed the others that Superman was being attacked by their own team.
Jimmy Olsen and his Newstime associate were flying above the ground war in a helicopter. It was hit, but Aquaman saved them.
Maxima freed Supergirl and she went to Draaga's aide (the two had become close since the start of the battle).
Brainiac unleashed an antimatter doomsday device. Supergirl headed to change shape and cover its opening, but Draaga jumped in before she could - he vowed to protect her and break his death-rite with Superman.
Metron used his chair to alter one of Brainiac's control devices. Dubbilex used it to amplify his own telepathic powers. He freed all who were under Brainiac's control. Superman blasted a hole in Warworld's exterior, and the Green Lanterns threw the antimatter creature into space where it exploded. Supergirl changed shapes into that of Draaga so that his memory would live on. Maxima switched sides.

Superman 66
The space heroes denied Maxima the opportunity to join them. They broke into three teams to attack Brainiac from all sides. The Metal Men and Guy Gardner held Maxima. Using Warworld to amplify his own power, Brainiac unleashed a psychic blast upon the heroes. He then deployed flying discs over Metropolis. They merged together to create a net over the entire city - he planned to use the device to shrink first Metropolis, then the other cities of the world.
Guy, Maxima, and the Metal Men believed Superman's team had failed. They headed in against Brainiac. Guy used a ring construct to plow through walls and create a path for Maxima - the Metal Men had merged to create a shield around her. She attacked Brainiac, but he held her back. Flash threw a shard of glass at Brainiac and severed his connection to Warworld - his powers would no longer be amplified. Maxima redoubled her efforts against him.
The other heroes left Warworld to help against the attack on Metropolis. The power grid began to fail.
Maxima lobotomized Brainiac before Superman could stop her. Before he went down, he sent what appeared to be an escape pod away from Warworld.

AoS 489
Metron offered to take the Brainiac vegetable back to New Genesis so he could be studied. The people of Warworld had no ill intentions toward Earth and rejoiced at the news Brainiac had been defeated. Orion and Lightray agreed to stay aboard the artificial planet until someone emerged from its own citizenry to rule.
Lex Luthor, II threw a parade for the victorious heroes.
Supergirl buried Draaga on the same asteroid where Superman buried the Cleric.
