| storyline |
In
the nation of Mali, Africa, a governing body discussed
the usefulness of the Peti'lions - groups of children
who were given weapons to rape and pillage. President
Benin entered and said they boys used were from the
lowest caste, therefor their future was meaningless.
Captain Abioye was assigned to a mission where she
and a regiment were to take a town. She knew it would
be a slaughter and called for reinforcements to stop
it. Anissa Pierce (Thunder) dropped her cover as Abioye
and let loose her powers. Nightwing and the rest of
the Outsiders appeared: Katana, Grace, Captain Boomerang,
Metamorpho.
After taking down the regimen, Nightwing blamed Thunder
for jeopardizing their mission and status (the Outsiders
were thought dead). |

Grace
and Boomerang captured Mali's Assistant of Inter-Department
Affairs, Colton Mirubu. The rest of the team watched
as Grace tortured the man trying to get the location
of the nation's sarin gas. Anissa seemed to be the
only one who had a problem with it, and she was the
one who blew the mission. The Outsiders attacked the
stronghold. They found what they were looking for
- enough gas to kill the entire country.
A meta with superspeed captured them before they could
do anything with the gas. |

The
speedster took Nightwing out of the compound and left
him with an army battalion. Grace was next - she took
25,000 punches. The speedster then disarmed Katana;
Metamorpho was cycloned into particles. Boomerang unleashed
his entire arsenal and finally got the best of him.
Thunder jumped on him and pinned him down. He vibrated
away, but Metamorpho regained himself and took him down
with acid.
Nightwing returned after taking care of the regimen
who thought they had him captured. Nightwing recognized
the downed meta as Jay Garrick - the Flash, though much
younger. |

Nightwing
called in Alan Scott - Green Lantern. He confirmed that
the captured speedster looked exactly like Jay Garrick.
The Outsiders noted that his DNA seemed corrupted. Scott
declared him a clone and took him back to Checkmate.
Thunder and Metamorpho captured President Benin. They
got the goods from him: he'd received the clone from
"Silver and Grey" - Monsieur Mallah and the
Brain. They left him on a deserted island.
Elsewhere, Mallah and the Brain discussed their cloning
and failures to create a body for the Brain.
Superman boarded the Outsiders' ship and spoke with
Nightwing. He wanted them to stop, but Nightwing "convinced"
him - with Kryptonite - the things they did needed to
be done. |

Phobia,
partnered with the Silver and Grey, met with one of
their clients about a late delivery. The client turned
out to be Metamorpho. She stopped him by exploiting
the "other" person in his head. Katana captured
her, but dropped her from two stories up, breaking both
legs. The Outsiders got the location for Mallah and
the Brain. Nightwing had to remind Boomerang where his
loyalties should lie.
They raided the base and were double crossed - Mallah
and the Brain exploded. Gunfire rang out. |

Mallah
and the Brain unleashed some of their meta clones. The
clones emerged victorious and the Outsiders were captured
and their DNA was taken. Mallah and the Brain were disappointed
that Nightwing was not meta; for some unknown reason,
Grace's DNA was useless to them.
Shift was able to free himself from Metamorpho and track
down Katana, who was still at large in the base. |

As
Katana and Shift headed in to find their team, she realized
the piece of Metamorpho wasn't Shift. Thunder grilled
Grace to find out what Mallah meant when he cryptically
talked about her "kind."
Katana and the Metamorpho piece found a clone of Superman
and let him loose. The Outsiders were freed; the clone
went rogue and began destroying everything. He rampaged
out of the compound, leaving the Outsiders the upper
hand against the Brain and Mallah. Mallah gave up their
partner: Dr. Sivana. |

| storyline |
Dr.
Sivana remotely detonated his partners' compound when
he realized he'd been given up. The Outsiders escaped
onto their ship before the former nuclear plant went
supernova. They were split up from the Brain and Mallah,
so they did not know if they escaped or were killed.
Sivana called Lois Lane at the Daily Planet. He gave
her the scoop on a blackout in Russia and the very much
alive Outsiders. He'd been monitoring them all year
and gave footage to the press.
The Outsiders pondered their fate if charges were brought
against them. Metamorpho told Boomerang that Shift felt
bad and was apologetic for his actions (Katana mentioned
he'd killed several people).
Nightwing got some information from the Pequod (their
ship) - Sivana's location, plan, and everything else.
