Nightwing
perched atop a gargoyle and waited for his prey. He
thought about spending more time out of costume. He
leapt off and grabbed the Raptor, a man in an armored
suit, who was wanted for murder. He was able to grapple
him with one end of his line and attach the other end
to a construction site. Nightwing landed hard on his
shoulder - he was preoccupied by someone unseen telling
him he should be dead. Raptor cut himself loose and
escaped. Nightwing found him inside Biotech Pharmaceuticals
- the Raptor was standing above a man who'd been burned
alive. Raptor again escaped after claiming innocence.
The next morning, Dick bumped in to two girls from his
apartment building, Ryan Diaz and Zen. Ryan was a masseuse
and helped pop his back into place. She invited him
to the spa where she worked. After a shower, he started
looking for a job. He found one as a taxi driver, but
it didn't last long. He took Ryan up on her massage
offer and visited Bones Spa. While on the table, he
picked up on something he missed while chasing Raptor.
Nightwing checked out the crime scene and found an employee
record chart on the computer where he'd found the dead
guy. The place appeared to be owned by Luthor. Nightwing
followed the list (some people on it were already dead)
and found the Raptor threatening a weapons plant manager.
Their fight carried outside; Raptor escaped. Nightwing
led the police inside and they found the target dead.
Raptor had not killed him.
That night as he slept, a shadowy figure came into Dick's
bedroom saying he would correct the error of him not
dying.

Nightwing
talked to Alfred while on a stake out. Neither Raptor
nor the assassin showed up. Dick told Alfred he'd be
coming to the party and joked about getting his own
Robin. On his way home, he stopped in to see JJ, his
weapons guy. JJ was keeping Dr. Slater, whom Nightwing
believed was a future target - he was the only person
still alive from the Raptor's list.
Dick headed to Bones to get another massage, and stopped
to help a boy who was practicing on a trapeze. Ryan
saw him and he told her he used to be an act in Haley's
Circus.
JJ's safehouse was attacked by the assassin (who rode
in the back of a Hummer Limousine). JJ escaped, but
Slater was killed. Nightwing ran down a name that JJ
got from Slater and found the Raptor dead. Jace Lorens
was killed by the man from whom he'd been trying to
save the others.
Nightwing met his wife after the funeral and told her
he didn't believe Jace was a murderer. The real murderer
waited nearby and was contracted for $6 million to kill
Nightwing.

Nightwing
was surprised and overtaken by the assassin. He was
thrown into Jace Lorens' empty coffin and buried alive.
He began to dig his way out using the hook from his
grapple. As he did so, he went over the case in his
mind: JJ had gotten him the autopsy report - Lorens
was dying of radiation before he was killed. The Raptor
suit had been stolen, but they both believe it must
have a leak which let the radiation that powered it
get to the wearer. He'd gone to the grave site only
to find Lorens' body had been exhumed. He was hit in
his injured shoulder with a shovel and kicked into the
hole.
As Nightwing finally got to freedom, he thought he remembered
the attacker calling him by his real name.

Raptor
2.0 body armor had been developed. It used the same
design as the original, but with more radiation shielding.
The people who developed it kept it when LexCorp declared
bankruptcy - even though Luthor himself shut down the
project.
Nightwing got word from JJ that Raptor had been spotted
in the city. Police had called for backup. As the designers
(and would-be sellers) watched via cameras they'd set
up to get footage for potential buyers, Nightwing attacked.
As he opened fire on the vigilante, one of the technicians
found the leak - it was in his weaponry. Nightwing turned
one of his flame throwers on him and he was fried. Coroners
found that he would have died from radiation anyway.
Luthor contacted the group unknown to them as the prospective
buyer. He told them he knew about the leak and detonated
the building they were in.
Jace Lorens' body was reburied.

Dick
went to a local bookstore to look for some information
on what fighting technique the assassin had used on
him. An attractive redhead smiled at him while a man
with a mohawk watched her. He later got into costume
and visited Dahlia Lorens, the Raptor's widow. He gave
her a ride to work on his motorcycle (he'd gotten her
a job at a Wayne-owned company). She was concerned about
one of her sons; Nightwing told her he'd check up on
the boy.
The man with the mohawk - Groom - showed "Bride"
his catch: the redhead from the bookstore.
Nightwing got a lead on Phillip Lorens' whereabouts.
He jumped a bouncer outside a building. Once he got
inside, he found it to be a shelter for people in trouble
run by Father Benjamin Ortega. Nightwing told Phillip
his mother was worried about him.
Dick attended a party thrown by Bruce at Wayne Manor.
Though he dreaded it, he and Bruce had a great conversation
and got along well. The next morning, he headed to Bones
and accepted a job offer to instruct teenagers.

Nightwing
tracked some thieves who'd been pawning the belongings
of missing people. They told him they'd seen a man dump
a body there and had been scavenging - bodies were littered
throughout a landfill. Strangely, the killer didn't
bother to even take their wallets. Nightwing recognized
one of the bodies as the redhead from the bookstore.
He called the police, who picked up the scavengers and
began loading the bodies.
Bride (Violet) worried that she was no longer immortal
- she used to be able to feed from the energies of others
for weeks, but now she was feeding at least daily. Groom
(Thomas) seemed to have the power to "see"
which people would be best for her. She shared the immortality
with him.
Nightwing read autopsy reports - all the victims were
missing all traces of iron, zinc, and white blood cells.
While going over them, he got a message that the Lorens
family - except for Phillip - was dead. He tracked the
boy's cell phone GPS to a boat leaving the harbor. He
hopped aboard and saw Bride feeding on the boy. She
hit him with an energy blast, and Groom used some sort
of mental suggestion to stop him. Nightwing fought through
it and stopped Bride from killing anyone. The ferry
ran aground. Several were killed in the crash, and the
killers escaped. Phillip left with his aunt.
Bride finally accepted Groom's proposal as he shared
his energies with her.

Nightwing
crashed into the Dark Side Bar looking for Violet and
Thomas. Barbara had told him about the place - low level
metas and small-timers congregated there. When he realized
no one there knew them, he offered a deal: he would
be back at midnight, and the person who could give him
information would get a "free pass."
Nightwing tore through several other gangs only to find
no one knew anything about Bride and Groom, who were
busy trying to track him. Thomas wanted to leave town
- they'd always left when someone got close to them,
that's how they'd lasted 300 years. Violet wanted Nightwing
destroyed. Later that night, Bride and Groom entered
the Dark Side Bar. They set up shop and waited for him
to return.
When he finally showed up, Groom attacked him. Nightwing
was able to fight him off, and he was cut by his own
knife. Bride set fire to the place.

Nightwing
gathered up the survivors from the bar and led them
out to attack Bride and Groom on the condition that
no one would kill. Before Bride and Groom escaped the
blaze at the bar, Nightwing had gotten a tracer on one
of their feet. They soon found a burning church - after
putting out the fire, they watched the tapes from the
security camera - Bride and Groom had officially become
bride and groom.
As they waited for their attackers, Thomas told Violet
that there had been others before her, but they all
had dried up.
Nightwing's team attacked. Groom was able to use his
power to turn some of them against their leader. Bride
killed one of them - Calcutta. Bride and Groom ran.
Snow and Aquarius left before things got more intense.
Powerpunch chased the couple with Nightwing and Charge
close behind. By the time they caught up, Bride had
almost killed Powerpunch. Nightwing recited their victims'
names as he throttled Groom. Charge attacked Bride.
Nightwing helped Powerpunch and told Charge to tie up
Bride and Groom. Violet wouldn't have it and blew up
the cave. Nightwing and his two remaining team members
got out alive, but Bride and Groom were buried inside.
