1: Born Again
The new Justice League met for the first time: Green
Lantern Guy Gardner, Black Canary, Mr. Miracle, Captain
Marvel, Martian Manhunter, and Blue Beetle. Gardner
attempted to assume leadership of the group and an all-out
brawl broke loose. Batman and Dr. Fate arrived and settled
everyone down.
Elsewhere, a mysterious figure offered membership to
the new Dr. Light. She was given a communications device,
which she promptly needed when she and several hundred
others were taken hostage in the UN building. She turned
it on an signaled the League. Batman sent Fate and Marvel
to scout while the rest followed in Blue Beetle's Bug
ship.
Batman and Gardner continued to be at each other's throats
as they emerged triumphantly from the situation. One
of the terrorists shot himself thinking if he died a
bomb he'd strapped to himself would go off. It failed.
Issue
2: Make War no More
Batman questioned Dr. Light about where she got the
signal device. TV host Jack Ryder questioned the need
for the new JLA. A group of foreign capes (The Silver
Sorceress, Wandjina, and Blue Jay) disarmed Bialya.
Its leader welcomed them. After hearing about them,
Batman readied his team to go after them.
Guy, who sympathized with the disarmers, was first to
encounter them. He was rather easily taken down by the
group. Bialya ordered Blue Beetle's ship out of its
airspace.
Issue
3: Meltdown
Bialya's leader clued his new superheroes in on Russia,
telling them there were nukes there. As they entered
Soviet airspace, the Rocket Red Brigade zeroed in on
them (with Blue Beetle's Bug not far behind). On orders,
the Rocket Reds went after the Justice League, while
others confronted the aliens. They tried to inform the
Rocket Reds that their planet had been destroyed by
nuclear weapons to no avail. A plant went meltdown.
Wandjina went in and stopped it. The Rocket Reds got
him treatment and ordered the Justice League away.
Back at the headquarters, a man named Maxwell Lord introduced
the team to its newest member: Booster Gold.
Issue
4: Winning Hand
The Justice League discussed Lord, Booster Gold, and
Dr. Light (Lord had recruited her, too). After hearing
that Lord had a "master plan," the building's
power went out. The Royal Flush gang was spotted outside.
Mr. Miracle turned on the force field, locking them
inside with Booster Gold. He took care of the Gang while
the rest of the JLA watched. When he noticed them, the
Ace in the Hole attacked. The rest of the League swooped
down to help, but the android had been created to exploit
their weaknesses. Booster, working with Blue Beetle,
destroyed the robot.
Batman welcomed him to the team as Maxwell Lord told
the gathered journalists he was their official press
liaison.
Issue
5: Gray Life, Gray Dreams
Jack Ryder got a tip on Dr. Fate and headed out with
a camera crew.
As the League prepared to meet, Batman brought Guy Gardner
down a notch by one-punch knocking him out. Dr. Fate
communicated to them that he was in trouble - the Gray
Man had him captive. Batman sent Captain Marvel to investigate
while the others prepared for their trip to Salem.
The Justice League landed in Salem and were met by the
Creeper.
Issue
6: Massacre in Gray
The entire city had been transformed. The League went
in to find the Gray Man. Soon, they were attacked by
Captain Marvel, who was being mind controlled. Martian
Manhunter, after a brawl, was able to free Marvel of
the Gray Man. The Creeper led the group to a theater
where the Gray Man was battling it out with Dr. Fate.
As the Gray Man's "other selves" began to
move in on the League, the Creeper pounced on his head.
After he'd taken down the entire team, Dr. Fate stopped
holding back. The Other Selves disappeared. Fate then
banished the Gray Man back to the realm in which he'd
been captive for centuries.
Martian Manhunter took Captain Marvel back to headquarters
intent on returning for the rest of his friends.
Hal Jordan spoke with Maxwell Lord about Guy Gardner's
involvement with the Justice League.
Issue
7: Justice League International
The Lords of Order granted the Gray Man's request and
set him free of his position. Dr. Fate returned to Earth
and the Justice League regained consciousness. After
Fate vanished, Creeper bounced off, and the League got
into the Bug to head back to headquarters.
J'onn met with Maxwell Lord in his office. Oberon (Mr.
Miracle's assistant) was there. Hal Jordan showed up
at JLA headquarters to talk to Guy Gardner. Superman
met with the President.
An alarm sounded. A rouge satellite was firing on Earth.
The Justice League (minus Guy, who stayed behind on
monitor duty) headed into space. Mr. Miracle single-handedly
disarmed the laser.
Back on Earth, Miracle told the group the satellite
was actually a training tool used on New Genesis.
With help from Maxwell Lord, the Justice League of America
became the Justice League International. Now sanctioned
by the UN, Captain Atom and Rocket Red 7 were permitted
to join the team. Captain Marvel dropped out, needed
to better get a grip on himself. Batman left the team
not wanting the international spotlight (he left J'onn
J'onzz in charge).
