Kendra
Saunders woke up from a dream where she and Carter -
as Hawkgirl and Hawkman - were fighting undead creatures.
Danny, one of the museum staff. Walked her out. En route,
two small earthquakes hit. The police were quick to
the scene, but they'd heard nothing about any earthquakes,
only that they'd found body parts of dead transients. Kendra
headed home, but on her way, her car went crazy. She
got out of it before it crashed. When she jumped out,
the doors had locked themselves and she had no control
over it at all. When it was recovered, the doors were
unlocked.
The next day, Kendra and Danny found a strange tunnel
in the museum's basement. Another tremor hit and they
were separated by rubble. |

woke up - it was another nightmare. She flew to the museum
the next morning and checked out the basement. It was
completely different than it was in her dream.
That night, Hawkgirl battled a masked person who'd butchered
two men. She was able to save their companion. She began
to think of some newspaper clippings she'd found at the
museum earlier. They all dealt with similar occurrences
and dated back centuries. When the cops arrived, they
removed the man's mask. His body instantly turned to dust.

ran into some trouble on the night of the museum fundraiser.
She was shot at when attempting to save a man from what
appeared to be a severe beat-down. All of the bad guys
got away.
Kendra bumped into Bruce Wayne at the event. Otherwise,
it went very uneventfully. A man trying to move in on
the museum ensured one of the bank's voters would turn
down its next loan.
She had another nightmare that evening, this one involving
the Handmaidens of Bast. While she slept, she missed out
on some police and supernatural activity. |

Khimaera
attacked again. Two were killed. Lieutenants Grubs and
Doucette, who'd been tipped off, were on the scene. Hawkgirl
was not far behind. A fire fight broke out between the
police and Khimaera's goons. The creature and Hawkgirl
fought. Lt. Grubs shot it, buying Kendra some time.
When it attacked Grubs, she commanded her wings to attach
to Khimaera. They flew it over the river and dropped it.
Grubs died of a skull fracture at the scene. |

Hawkgirl
was infuriated with the death of Grubs and began attacking
Khimaera. Doucette stopped her before she killed the creature.
Kendra then realized both officers knew her secret identity.
He got her away before reinforcements arrived. The creature
was locked up in the STAR Labs metahuman containment center
below the St. Roch police HQ.
That night, zombies attacked two police officers. The
Stonechat Museum was broken into by a man tattooed like
Khimaera. Kendra received a call from Carter's old number
(he'd been missing for a year). She headed to his office
to find Hawkman collapsed on the floor. |

Khimaera's
escape / release was orchestrated. Several officers were
killed. Kendra attended Carter, who appeared to have aged
30+ years in his absence. The resurrected Hawkman was
actually being controlled by Khimaera. He attacked Hawkgirl
and she began remembering painful events in her life.
Shiera appeared to her. They merged and she awakened.
Hawkgirl attacked the fake Carter and ripped his face
off. The tattooed gangbanger called for Khimeara's help
and gained some of her power. He began chasing Hawkgirl.
She defeated him by placing an armored helmet on him backwards,
negating his sight. |

Hawkgirl
flew to the basement of her museum and bashed through
a wall. There was a tunnel identical to that in her dream.
Khimaera attacked, followed by Roderic Christopher, the
man controlling her. The Maw, Khimaera's real master,
called out for Roderic, who also had multiple souls, but
was much older (he claimed to have been hunting Hawks
for 3500 years). Hawkgirl moved back, then threw them
both into the Maw. Hath-set, his second soul, escaped.
Doucette arrived as Kendra made her exit. He blasted at
the Maw, which collapsed upon itself, taking with it most
of the artifacts from the previously not-there basement
tunnel. |
