Blackfire,
in a heavily modified ship, attacked a Rannian prison.
She broke six inmates (Rellock the Cutter, Gayy Galeen,
Ice Melkoth, Aerakl Akonite, Smiler Telashe, and the
Butcher) free and flew them out and gave them orders.
The Butcher was sent to Earth to kill a Thanagarian
traitor: Hawkgirl.
Hawkgirl was about to head home for the night when she
saw an explosion. En route, she flew into a net and
was shocked by it twice. She woke up without her belt
or wings. She was in some sort of prison - an announcement
rang out for all prisoners to return to their cells,
then the lights went out.
She was later called in to her trial. A man in traditional
Thanagarian judge's dress informed her she would be
executed for treason. |

Hawkgirl
was to be executed as a traitor to her home planet.
One of Kendra's coworkers saw her wings flying through
St. Roch and followed them to a nearby asylum which had
been shut down for decades. He was stuck unconscious by
the judge once he entered. He came to in time to see Hawkgirl
hanged. She was able to free herself and attack the "judge"
when he began to strangle Danny. He chased her into an
elevator and fell to the bottom of the empty shaft. Hawkgirl
freed Danny. She seemed to have retained some of her power
even without the Nth metal or wings. |

Kendra
went out with Henri, but felt her mind wandering. After
it was over, she flew around the city. After stopping
some muggers, she went home and thought about Carter.
The next afternoon, she and Danny went though the museum's
back room looking for something "new" to display.
The first thing she opened was from the tomb of Hath-set.
She later momentarily believed Carter had been in her
office.
Kendra called Batman, who pointed her to a man named Mole
- a former weapons trafficker who'd retired to St. Roch.
He fixed her up with a semiautomatic pistol which shot
taser darts.
Blackfire landed in St. Roch. She was wearing wings and
Nth metal. She attacked Hawkgirl and told him she'd killed
Hawkman. She was looking for a missing testament pod (the
item Kendra had found in her office). |

On
Rann, Hawkman stopped some men who had attacked a medical
supply ship. He wondered why not all Thanagarians had
returned home since the Green Lantern Corps had returned
it to its orbit. He learned that the planet was not rotating
- one side of it faced their star while the other side
was frozen. He was given a testament pod by Commissioner
Pul. Adam Strange sent him to Earth via Zeta Beam. He
arrived in the Himalayas and found Hath-set's absorbacon.
He placed the testament pod in Kendra's desk.
When Blackfire learned of the treachery, she broke six
inmates free and sent one to Earth to kill Hawkgirl. Hawkman
found her and used the absorbacon hoping to gain information
on Blackfire's plan. Her escapees attacked, but were no
match for him. Blackfire approached him and told him Hawkgirl
was dead. |

Blackfire
was able to defeat Hawkman. She took his Nth metal and
wings and headed to Earth. Carter, who survived the attack,
borrowed a set of wings from the Commissioner and headed
to Earth, too.
Blackfire attacked Hawkgirl. Hawkman appeared during their
fight and Zeta Beamed all three of them to one of the
few inhabitable areas of Thanagar. Hawkman threw Blackfire
into the darkness. He told her he would save her if she
would discharge all her energy. She complied. He grabbed
her up and placed her in Psion constraints.
Hawkman Zeta Beamed them back to Rann, and they handed
the testament pod over to the police. |

Carter
and Kendra arrived home on Earth. A woman broke into the
storeroom of the museum. Danny sounded the alarm. Hawkman
headed in, but Kendra saw a vision of Shiera - she told
her to break the pattern, death was near them. A woman
stole the Hath-set jar, which housed an ancient Apokoliptian
weapon. Hath-set had possessed the woman. She was hit
by a police car trying to escape from Hawkgirl. She was
killed.
Hawkgirl told Hawkman that she was different - not the
same soul that Shiera was.
Carter later saw Kendra out with Henri. |
