Amon
Sur arrived on Qward and was greeted by Lyssa Drak,
keeper of the Book of Parallax. She told him of Despotellis,
who transformed entire planets into rotting graveyards:
Reemuz, Green Lantern of sector 119 returned to his
home planet after patrolling and found only death
and a yellow lantern. He grew tired and eventually
exhaled his last breath - a sentient bio-virus known
as Despotellis. The tiny creature summoned its lantern
en route to infecting virtually all of the 714 inhabited
planets in the sector. |

Lyssa
Drak told Amon Sur another story, this one of space
sector 2815. On a jungle planet, a young girl named
Karu-sil was left homeless and alone when her family
was attacked. She was soon adopted by another carnivorous
pack of animals. She grew up not knowing why she was
different from them. Years later, after she was an
adult, she happened upon another humanoid like herself.
She and her pack attacked it, but a Green Lantern
killed her mates and "saved" her from them.
She was taken and institutionalized after killing
a doctor. A yellow ring eventually sought her. |

Lyssa
Drak led Amon Sur to the fear lodges. His power ring
would be drained, and he would have to charge it on
his own. She told him of Bedovian of sector 3. He
preyed on a mining facility after going 600 years
without eating. Bedovian now inhabited one of the
fear lodges.
Amon was stripped of the fear he'd collected and entered
one of the pods. |

As
rings, both green and yellow criss-crossed the sky looking
for new bearers, the war continued. The Guardians told
the Earthling GLs about the prophesy and the new colors
which were sure to appear.
Jordan broke into TV waves in Coast City telling everyone
to evacuate. Instead, they all turned on green lights
to support their heroes. As Kyle and Hal fought Sinestro,
he used a new weapon which stole the charge of their
rings. They eventually turned the tides on him, putting
them back on a level playing field.
Guy was infected with Despotellis, the same sentient
virus that killed Kyle's mother and countless others.
He and John pulled War World down onto the Anti-Monitor.
The AM survived, but Prime flew through him. Prime then
grabbed a Guardian and ripped into him. The resulting
energy burst seemed to destroy both of them.
Natu injected Gardner with a GL who defeated Despotellis.
The good guys won, and citizens flocked to Coast City,
the City Without Fear.
Sayd and Ganthet founded the Blue Lanterns; Prime awakened
outside the multiverse. The Manhunters found the remains
of the Cyborg Superman and brought him back to life
- his death would have to come another time. |
