Kyle
demanded to know who the Monitor was and what was going
on. He muttered something about "the others"
and disappeared. He got some coffee and talked to his
friend Radu about it. Radu gave him a necklace that
had been left in Jennie's apartment. Kyle had given
it to her.
Kyle visited with Alan Scott at the scene of the new
JSA headquarters. They talked about Jennie and their
own relationship. Back at home, he was attacked by Effigy.
Effigy was not sure how he'd found Ion or why he was
attacking him. |

He saved Princess Ariana and returned her to her father.
As she was thanking him, Guy Gardner showed up - Kyle's

Two
boys who'd found a strange lamp during the Crisis gave
it another look. Inside, they could see people in what
appeared to be another dimension.
Kyle visited his mother. She was wasting away, but the
doctors had no clue why. While there, he was summoned
to Oa. His mom woke up in time to catch some of their
conversation. She told him he should go and asked to
see him in his costume. He flew off, but returned to
Earth when he got a funny feeling. He found a small
fire and two characters in costume: a blonde woman calling
herself the Flash and a man calling himself the Atom
(both from the Tangent Universe). Ion was knocked unconscious
and they found their Green Lantern's device. |

Kyle
woke up in what appeared to be space - but everything
was red. The two boy's who'd found the lantern were
there, too. Kyle constructed them a motorcycle on which
they could follow him. They ran into some ugly aliens
and the Monarch. He removed his helmet and revealed
himself to be Captain Atom. He'd been confined to the
suit since the Bludhaven situation. He told Kyle they
were in "the bleed," a place between places.
Captain Atom had been using it as a place to get away
from the Monitors. He spoke of traveling to other Earths.
He was able to help Kyle get back to his Earth, and
Ion used the Lantern to send the Tangent citizens back
to their own world.
Ion took the Lantern to OA and gave it to Guy. The Guardians
sent him to a rift in reality located in sector 3388.
He asked about the Bleed, but they gave him the cold
shoulder. At 3388, he found a base inside an asteroid.
Inside were dozens of dead Qwardians. He was greeted
by Donna Troy. |

this universe to escape from a tyrant, but died before
he could say more. Donna mentioned the Monitors. They
were watching her, Kyle, Nightwing, and Supergirl. An
explosion rocked the base. Grayven appeared. He claimed
to be behind the attacks on Ion (Effigy, Nero, and his
mom's freak illness).
The Monitors watched as Donna and Kyle fought the son
of Darkseid. Guy tried to get a message to Kyle about
his mother. |

to act.
By the time they got to Earth, Kyle's mother was dead.
He was able to bring her back, but it was just her shell.
He let her go again.
After burying her, Kyle went back to his retreat. He
grieved by painting those he'd loved and lost.
Yellow power rings made their way toward Earth. |

| Notes,
references to time, and chronology: |
|
This
is the second half of the Ion mini (the
first is here). It's obviously a single continuous story,
but is broken up here because that's how DC released the trade
paperbacks. |

Issue
nine reaffirms the One Year Later aspect as one of the children
who found the Tangent Lantern said "We had that lantern
in our treehouse for over a year..." |
