Bart,
now relocated to LA, missed Keystone City's "Flash
Day" honoring him for defeating the Griffin. He
sprung into action when Abra Kadabra went on a rampage.
He caused a building to disappear and reappear in the
Swiss Alps. He ordered his men to strip it and deposit
the money in a nearby bank. Unbeknownst to them, the
Flash was inside.
After mopping them up, he headed back home. Bart got
himself an apartment of his own and met a girl who lived
in the same building.
Elsewhere, Inertia was working with Deathstroke. He
headed through his time portal into the future where
he traded a Rolling Stones cd for a triggering device.
He used the trigger in a contraption they hoped would
allow Mota to materialize in solid form. Valerie got
loose after the sabotaged experiment, but Inertia tracked
her down. He told her he wanted her to get back together
with Bart. He used a voice synthesizer to mimic her
and called Bart. |

Bart
arrived at the location "Val" gave him only
to find Inertia. He followed his clone to Val, who was
in a deathtrap. He saved her, but Bart escaped into
the future. Las Vegas suffered a blackout due to the
photon cannon used in the deathtrap.
Bart and Val stayed the night in the penthouse Inertia
lured him to earlier. When they woke up, Bart made a
quick trip through the city to see if everything was
back to normal. When he returned, Mota was there with
his daughter. He claimed he wanted to apologize, but
Flash didn't believe him. He trapped Mota with an electromagnet.
Bart introduced Valerie to the Garrick's and told them
he was applying for a job with the LAPD.
Inertia plotted his next move - going back to Bart's
time and gathering up his rogues. |

Jay
and Joan invited Bart over for Christmas, but he told
them he had plans. Instead, he spent the day feeling
sorry for himself, thinking about Wally, Max, and Conner.
He headed in to the police station, but they didn't
have any room for trainees during the holiday.
Outside, two kids hit him with snowballs and ran away.
He figured snow in LA must mean the Weather Wizard,
Captain Cold, or Mr. Freeze. He quickly got into costume
to investigate and found it to be Rick Thompson, a former
"tech" guy for some of the Flash's rogues.
He'd built his own weather wand so he could give his
son a white Christmas. The wand backfired and had blown
a hole in a wall in their home. Bart felt sorry for
them. He scooped them up and took them to Jay's place.
Before they got a chance to eat, both Flashes headed
out to stop Murmur, who was threatening to cut out the
tongues of everyone in Keystone's City Choir. |

Robin
called Flash and invited him back to the Titans. Not
only did they miss him, but Inertia was causing them
some problems. He told the Boy Wonder he'd call back
- he was in the middle of battling a new villain who
was calling himself Impulse. After handling him, Flash
found a strange piece of tech in a pit nearby. He snatched
it and took it to Val. She told him it was Apokolipsian.
They later met some friends for dinner. One of them
made coy references to superheroes and the Flash. Bart
thought Val told them his secret. When he confronted
her later, she blew up and left him.
The next day, Bart had one of his classes at the police
academy interrupted - a metahuman was attacking. Bart
realized it was someone looking for the item he'd placed
in his locker the night before. It was Steppenwolf -
one of Darkseid's uncles. The JLA (Green Lantern, Black
Canary, and Red Arrow) appeared while they fought and
gave Flash a hand.
Bart called Robin back and turned down his offer. |

| storyline |
Bart's
class was given a "cold case" to work. A man
who'd just gotten out of jail was found dead, minus
his head. There'd been no leads in five years. Bart
was intrigued.
A hooded figure tracked Professor Zoom to ancient Rome
and propositioned him.
Bart checked out the scene of the crime. He'd noticed
non-blood liquid near where the body's head should have
been, but there'd been no rain during the time of the
murder. Flash checked on all the known villains who
used cold as a weapon - he believed the head had been
frozen off. Mr. Freeze fingered Captain Cold, who was
supposedly "reformed" at the time of the killing.
Cold confessed to Flash, but Zoom appeared. While they
fought, Inertia visited with Heat Wave.
Zoom introduced Bart to his grandmother, Iris Allen. |

Iris
fired three tranquilizer darts at the Flash, who grabbed
them and stabbed one into Zoom. Iris told Bart she was
trying to help him - she'd asked Zoom for his assistance.
He needed to be out of the superhero business for the
time being. She told him her knowledge of the future
was not exact, but she feared for him since he'd become
the Flash. He finally convinced her to tell him what
was going to happen, and he went forward even with that
knowledge.
Inertia continued gathering up rogues for his new plan.
They were going to build something at a museum site.
Val met Bart at the academy and wanted to give them
another try. He told her the timing was off and headed
to class. When he got there, he was told some officials
at police HQ wanted to talk to him. They questioned
him about why Steppenwolf was in his locker. While being
questioned, someone burst in and told them metas were
attacking a museum. They put him in cuffs and read him
his rights, but he vibrated through them and introduced
himself as the Flash - the future his grandmother warned
him about was happening. |

Abra
Kadabra questioned Inertia - he said device they were
building would create a time anomaly, but Kadabra knew
better.
Iris appeared to Valerie and asked for her help.
Flash arrived inside the rogues' force field in time
to stop Inertia from killing Kadabra (Inertia confirmed
that he was simply using them as bait). The rest of
the rogues attacked.
Iris got Val to the construct and asked her to dismantle
it. Before she could even start, it was activated. Bart
lost contact with the speed force. The rogues noticed
time hadn't stopped, only the Flash. They weren't impressed.
Flash saw another Flash dressed in black - a speedster
was about to die.
Valerie realized that the machine couldn't hold the
speed force and that an explosion was imminent. |

Valerie
continued working on the construct, hoping to both stop
it from transferring the speed force to Inertia and
keep it from blowing up. Iris appeared to Bart, who
refused to let her take him away. He caused her to pass
out and contacted Val. She said she needed ten minutes
and explained that the only way to keep it from exploding
would be to release all its energy - he'd never touch
the speed force again.
Pied Piper attacked Inertia. The others attacked Flash.
Both speedsters were down; Kadabra noticed Flash was
just a kid. He believed Flash and Inertia were somehow
related and that Inertia was trying to steal Flash's
speed.
Flash gathered up his strength and attacked. As he attacked
Inertia, he began to believe that the black Flash could
be there for his clone and not himself. He kept Inertia
from getting to the speed force, but the others opened
fire on him.
Val stopped the machine from exploding. Bart was unable
to tap the unleashed speed force and died with his grandmother
and girlfriend standing above him.
Word of his death got to the JSA and Titans. |
