Deathstroke
blew up an ammunitions storehouse the government
of San Miguel was planning on using against rebels
in its civil war. Afterwards, he visited his client
to collect the rest of his payment. The act caused
the President to release a rebel leader, Jorge Zaxtro,
who'd been imprisoned for 25 years. His client introduced
him to a member of the government and one of the
rebel leaders. They feared for Zaxtro's life - the
other rebels had used him as a martyr for their
cause, now there were plans for him to be assassinated
so he could be a martyr once more. They asked Deathstroke
to prevent the man's death - for free. He told them
they knew his prices and left.
The next day, Deathstroke watched Zaxtro give a
speech and stopped a truck load of armed men in
a truck nearby. He handed off proof to his client
and was given a list of more possible assassins.
He visited two on the list - one rebel and one from
the government. He believed both when they told
him they wanted Zaxtro alive.
The next night, Zaxtro was attacked at a public
appearance (where he was giving a speech with the
President) by government helicopters. Deathstroke
went into action. Zaxtro was hit 7 times by gunfire.
Both sides blamed the other for the attack.
Deathstroke stopped another attempt at the hospital.
Six masked men came through the window of his room.
He killed them all; Zaxtro again survived. Deathstroke
nabbed his client - the man who was selling arms
to both sides of the war - the only one who would
profit from continued fighting. |

| storyline |
A
small, one man helicopter landed on a train. The
masked pilot entered the train, stole a canister,
shot Slade Wilson's ex-wife Adeline, threw her from
the train, and escaped before it derailed on a bridge.
Wilson was off hunting in Africa. He killed an elephant
that destroyed part of a small village. The locals
used it's meat and sold it's tusks to help pay for
the damages.
Slade got the called about Adeline. He and Wintergreen
headed out, but no sooner than they exited their
African home, they were attacked by the same mini-copter.
The home was destroyed, but both men survived. Wilson
had no clue who the attacker was. Slade and Wintergreen
walked to the nearest town and flew to Germany,
where Adeline was hospitalized. She awakened long
enough to tell him the attacker knew them both.
Slade realized the attacker was meaning to draw
him out. He and Wintergreen headed out to Castle
Waller. Wintergreen thought back on the Wilsons'
marriage and their first son, Grant.
Inside the castle, Deathstroke confronted one of
Adeline's employees. He told Wilson she'd instructed
them not to cooperate with him at all and told him
to leave. Deathstroke hung him up-side-down from
the ceiling and got the information he needed. He
staked out a location and broke in when the owner
arrived. She confused him for someone else - someone
who'd taken her son. The attacker had stolen plutonium
In Qurac, the attacker revealed himself to his clients
as the Ravager. |

As
Deathstroke listened to Mrs. Neutstadt, attackers
struck. He was able to kill some, but took a bullet
in the leg. He soon realized she was the target,
not himself. He saved her, and she asked him to
save her son. Her driver admitted to playing a part
in the child's kidnapping. He said they were paid
in gold by a man dressed similarly to Deathstroke.
The kid was in Lisbon.
Slade and Wintergreen headed back to the hospital.
Ravager raided a safe on an airplane, blew it up,
and parachuted to safety.
Deathstroke questioned the only other survivor from
the train attack / wreck - a mercenary named Alan
Parkenson. The acquaintance had no knowledge Deathstroke
hadn't already gained, save for who got him the
job - Bookworm. Outside, two men in a car listened
to their conversation. Bookworm fingered Qurac.
Ravager delivered his latest score to employers
in Qurac. Deathstroke and Wintergreen arrived there
and quickly realized the men who were following
them in Germany were still following them. They
were able to evade them and cause them to crash
into a fishing boat.
Deathstroke broke into the home where the kidnapped
boy had been stashed and rescued him.
The CIA went over their files on Deathstroke after
hearing he'd escaped and their men had been arrested
while following. |

Deathstroke
became more and more distant as Qurac's civil war
raged on. Ravager led Deathstroke to him, introduced
himself as Grant, and blasted his "father."
As Ravager continued to taunt, Deathstroke got the
upper hand. He was shot in the back by Kaddam (a
warlord / military leader) before he could deal
the killing blow. Ravager then blasted Wintergreen,
who'd come in as backup. He and Kaddam left; Deathstroke
crawled to Wintergreen and began moving debris off
him. He lost consciousness again.
US troops came in and secured the two. Deathstroke
would be tried for crimes against his country. |

As
Deathstroke was being escorted away in a truck,
he noticed one of the army men had a ring with the
same skull the Ravager had on his costume. The man
mentioned things no one else had, and Deathstroke
knew he'd been set up - the situation was bigger
than he'd imagined. He broke free and escaped in
one of their jeeps.
Adeline was on the road to full recovery when she
heard the news about her son, Joseph (Jericho of
the Teen Titans).
Kaddam, Ravager, and their group landed in the US
- they were going to attack Washington during the
signing of a peace treaty.
Deathstroke had also made it back to the States.
He met with Squirrel, his ammunitions man, and noticed
they were being watched. He pulled the man in through
a window.
Ravager and Kaddam's team got their bomb onto the
rail car system which led from the Senate to the
Congressional House. Deathstroke got the information
he needed from his captive and got on their trail.
Kaddam tried to start the train early when Wilson
arrived, but Ravager killed him. Ravager then revealed
himself to Deathstroke: he was Bill Walsh, a man
bested by Wilson in the army, and a man who became
the Jackal (who'd kidnapped Joseph Wilson causing
him to become mute), and a man who'd recruited Grant
to become the first Ravager. Deathstroke killed
him and disarmed the bomb. Walsh was left behind
for the police to find.
Slade headed back to Germany. |

Wintergreen
had been moved to the same hospital in Germany as
Adeline. Deathstroke camped out to find out why.
He saw Akmed Hessuin in also.
Slade visited Frannie, one of his contacts there,
and disguised himself as a physician from England.
He went in to speak to Adeline, but she pulled a
gun on him and told him to never make contact with
her again. He visited Wintergreen, who was asleep.
He told his friend that he'd killed his own son.
He then bid his hold friend farewell - he was leaving
behind all he knew. Too many he loved had died because
of who he was.
Simultaneously, Adeline, Wintergreen, and Hessuin's
rooms were attacked - men swung in through their
windows. Deathstroke went into action - the gunmen
burst into flames when they were killed. He saw
a man with a scar across his face and realized the
CIA was somehow involved.
Adeline refused to let him take her. She pulled
a gun on him again and he walked away. He grabbed
Wintergreen and escaped with Frannie before he could
be captured. The man with the scar questioned Adeline.
Wilson and Wintergreen made it safely out of the
country. |
