Dr.
Terry Thirteen had a dream that he was waking up from
a dream. His daughter, Traci, finally got him out of
both of them and told him he had a phone call. It was
an old schoolmate who happened to be the Premier of
France. Thirteen and his daughter traveled to France
to investigate the newly discovered wreckage of a plane
that crashed seven months before. Survivors had recently
been discovered.
Ever the skeptic, Thirteen was astonished when Traci
was attacked by a Yeti. He still didn't believe it and
simply walked up to the creature. The man inside the
costume took of his mask and lifted the doctor up by
his neck. |

Dr.
Thirteen woke up in a cave with his daughter and the
vampire (the man who was dressed as a Yeti). Traci showed
him cave paintings, one of which had French text accompanying
it. The vampire translated it as "beware the architects"
and introduced himself as Lord Andrew Bennett.
Thirteen raced to the cave exit as he heard his daughter
scream. He was knocked unconscious by a what appeared
to be a bear wearing a Nazi insignia. When he woke up,
he found a preserved cro-magnon in ice below him. I
pirate ship hovered above his discovery. |

Dr.
13 refused to believe he was on a ghost pirate ship
flying through the air looking for his daughter who'd
been abducted by Nazi animals. The French Alps gave
way to a jungle. With a Nazi fort. Run by gorillas.
They fired on the ship, but their blast went straight
through it. When the pirate captain (Captain Fear) mistook
them for Yeti, they corrected him with a German accent
- they were Das Primate Patrol.
Bennett took some bullets but no damage. 13 was startled
when the cave man (still encased in ice save for his
arm) pinched him. He fell overboard and saw the little
boy he'd been dreaming about. A ghost on a horse (James
Ewell Brown Stuart) joined the battle. |

Thirteen
untied his daughter. He pulled out a dollar and told
the little boy from his dreams that he had ten questions
(the boy always asked for a dime). He told him he couldn't
help without dimes. One of the apes burst in claiming
Traci was his bride. While telling about how the Nazis
had recruited them as super soldiers, the ape vomited
on Dr. 13. A pale skinned woman with purple hair entered
the room. She introduced herself as Infectious Lass,
from the 31st Century.
The Cro-Magnon pointed out "les architectes"
were there. The building exploded. |

The
group boarded the pirate ship with their new friend,
Genius Jones (the boy from Dr. Thirteen's dreams). Genius
told them the architects were in charge of them all.
Thirteen took offense and went after them. He and the
vampire tried to go through "the door" and
were offered assistance by the lead gorilla. In return
for his help, he wanted them to let him on their team.
The door was opened and a ladder was under it. Mt. Rushmore
attacked them. |

The
pirate ship fired on Mt. Rushmore as Thirteen, the ape,
and the vampire descended into the tunnel below them.
The vampire was hit by a subway train. Julius, the ape,
offered the vampire his own blood so he could regenerate
- and so he could possibly become a vampire, too (a
Nazi talking ape vampire).
Traci Thirteen defeated Mt. Rushmore by conjuring a
large sheet of paper (paper beats rock). |

Thirteen,
Julius, and the Vampire found themselves in Times Square.
They came face to face (almost) with the architects
(who were wearing masks representing Batman, Superman,
Flash, and Wonder Woman). They told them they had to
remake the universe so it would be "current."
They admitted they had a plan for all of them except
for Julius, that is, until he became a vampire. But
he needed a new name so they called him Primaul. The
vampire they had no use for, so he told them he was
really gay.
The ghost pirate ship attacked. It crashed, but the
architects were defeated. With no ship to captain, the
ghost pirate faded away. |

The
team entered the Daily Planet building and were attacked
by the costumes of the Justice League. Infectious Girl
infected the clothes with moths. Primaul reappeared
in a new costume of his own. The Architects took Traci
and placed her into their world. Primal saved Traci
from them when a tornado tore them apart after Dr. 13
denied their existence.
Team 13 set out to find Captain Fear (the dead dead
pirate). |

Note:
Tales of the Unexpected ran two stories in each issue - a lead
of the Spectre, and a backup of Dr. 13. This synopsis is for
the Dr. 13 story only. |

I'm
pretty sure this isn't supposed to fit into continuity, but
it's quite entertaining! |
