Power
Girl headed to work after a court appearance testifying
against some criminals she'd captured: the Nelson brothers.
Karen visited with Sayles Wilde, a software publisher,
who was interested in purchasing StarrWare. She turned
down the offer and tried to get her head straight.
Karen had just learned that she was not the cousin of
Superman, but the granddaughter of an Atlantean Magician,
Arion.
Power Girl stopped a runaway motorcyclist, who had no
memories of the damage he'd caused. As soon as she got
him into police custody, a purple-armored man appeared
calling himself the Force. After a huge fight spanning
over a mile, PG took down the Force by zapping him with
power lines. A photographer was injured when she was
thrown into him. She took the Force (still unconscious)
to Belle Reve Prison in Louisiana.
When Karen got home, she learned two of her friends
had been burglarized and another had been beaten up
and mugged.
Karen was being watched by a man in Darkworld who believed
she was the granddaughter of Arion. |

A
woman calling herself Hydra attacked the city by destroying
underground water mains. She disappeared after spraying
PG with a gasoline truck and setting her on fire.
Back at the office, Karen learned of a plot to take
control of StarrWare from her. She went out for a night
on the town with Liz and Carrie (Liz's car was stolen
earlier in the day). While they were at a club, a man
named Hurricane stuck with his wind powers. She quickly
got into costume and approached him. While they fought,
she realized he (or his boss) must know her secret identity.
As soon as Hurricane appeared, he disappeared.
PG got back into Karen costume and headed home. After
bumping into a martial arts instructor who wanted her
to join his dojo, "Pyro" attacked and burned
away her civilian clothes. He, also, soon disappeared.
When Karen got home, she had a message telling her StarrWare
had been destroyed by fire.
She headed out to find Mongo Krebs - the man who offered
her assistance the night before. She hoped he could
help her get her head straight. |

Karen
went home after karate class and found a big purple
monster waiting for her. It attacked her and babbled
about its master, then disappeared.
While Force was escaping Belle Reve, Karen wandered
into an occult / magic bookstore to learn more about
her heritage. She found a book on Arion. After reading
it, she visited a self-proclaimed witch: Madam Rossili.
Rossili gave her an amulet (with the same insignia Power
Girl had on her belt), said to have belonged to Atlanteans.
The "witch" sent her to Blaine, a practicing
sorcerer. The Phantom Stranger looked on as Blaine turned
into the beast which had attacked her in her apartment.
Force and his master appeared. After she defeated the
monster and Force (and their master vanished), Phantom
Stranger approached her. He was able to open a portal
to Darkworld so Power Girl could finally confront the
Weaver (a Lord of Chaos). |

Kara
encountered a huge, magic wall. She tried to break through
it, but it repaired itself. A demon (?) calling himself
Ghy approached her. He helped her walk through the wall
and into a jungle. Mongo (the karate teacher) attacked
her. Other "realities" began to show themselves
until she got through the jungle and into the clutches
of the Weaver.
By touching him, he was defeated. Ghy helped her back
to her own world, where she found the Phantom Stranger
waiting in her kitchen. Everything - even her friends'
bad luck - was back to normal. The curse had been broken. |

| Notes,
references to time, and chronology: |
|
Power Girl's
physical age is 22: "It wasn't until a few months ago I
found out the truth - how my Grandfather Arion's greatest foe
attacked him through me, a two-year-old infant. To save me and
Atlantis, he was forced to send me away, protected by a magic
crystal. He put me into some sort of supernatural dimension,
where I stayed for 45,000 years, aging only 20 in that time.
Arion sent a part of his consciousness with me as watchdog,
and that's what gave me my false memories of Krypton."
(Karen, internal. issue 1) |
|
Issue 2
takes place a week after 1: "It's been a week since I captured
him (Force)." (Power Girl to Larry) |
|
Issue 3
takes place a month after 2: "All right, Starr. Let's see
if you've learned anything. After all, it's been a month!"
(Mongo to Karen) |
|
This takes
place during or previous to the Phantom
Stranger mini: "For millions of years, Order has reigned
over the universe, but now has come the time when we are to
abandon all and leave it for Chaos's rule for the coming cycle."
(Phantom Stranger, issue 3) |
