Dr.
Fate called out Typhon, Lord of Chaos. Typhon had heard
rumors that Fate's host body was weakening - that he
was no longer immortal. Dr. Fate was called home. Nabu
was told that the Crisis continued and would continue
until "all creation topples into the pit."
Fate refused to stand by and watch chaos reign so that
order would eventually beat it out.
A child named Eric Strauss was found by Nelson and taken
to Salem. Nabu entered the boy's body; his training
would begin. Dr. Fate appeared to his guardian, Linda,
telling her Eric "will be back!" As Dr. Fate,
Eric fought Typhon. Nabu left him and returned to Nelson.
Dr. Benjamin Stoner of Arkham Asylum picked Eric up
as he mumbled in the snow. Typhon told him where he'd
be. Strauss's body was older. |

Kent
Nelson thought back on his father, who Nabu killed in
order to take a new body, and his wife, who was kept
young with him for a while, but then aged rapidly, causing
her to lose her mind.
Dr. Stoner questioned Eric about the helmet and amulet
of Dr. Fate. Linda admitted to herself that she was
in love with her stepson. She set out to find him. Typhon
ordered Stoner to kill his nurse, then sacrifice himself.
Nabu reclaimed Eric and they went for Stoner. He (with
Typhon inside) took Dr. Fate by surprise and weakened
him. Stoner put on the helmet.
Nabu once again rejected the Lords of Order. |

Posing
as Dr. Fate, the Phantom Stranger called together the
Justice League.
Kent Nelson tried to reason with Linda - they'd all
been used by Nabu. Eric arrived.
The Justice League (Green Lantern (Guy), Martian Manhunter,
Batman, Mr. Miracle, and Phantom Stranger) approached
Dr. Fate (Stoner). Fate quickly sent Gardner and Batman
away. Phantom Stranger felt they were still alive; he
sent J'onn and Mr. Miracle away and went after Fate.
The Stranger tried to appeal to Dr. Stoner as he was
previous to being corrupted by Typhon, but he failed
- Dr. Fate killed him. |

Dr.
Fate appeared in Egypt at the site of the Great Pyramid.
Kent, Eric, and Linda stood in his way. As they did
battle, Kent realized Dr. Fate had to be two: Eric and
Linda, just like he and Inza for so long. Though Nabu
fought it, Linda and Eric joined. Chaos was defeated,
Typhon surrendered. Dr. Stoner's body faded away and
a new Dr. Fate stood victorious.
Back in Salem, Kent asked Nabu to release him. Linda
and Eric buried him with a simple tombstone reading
"No Man Gave More." Nabu was summoned by the
Lords of Order. He admitted to have been tainted by
humanity, but wished it would have happened earlier.
They sent him away, to never return.
Kent Nelson's body, controlled by what was Nabu, arrived
at the home of Linda and Eric asking both to help and
for help. |
