Subtitle Golden Lads & Lasses Must...
Date May 10, 2006
Writer(s) Geoff Johns, Grant Morrison, Greg Rucka, Mark Waid
Artist(s) Keith Giffen, Joe Bennett, Ruy Jose
storyline All over the world, people began trying to start putting their lives back together after the Crisis. Detective Renee Montoya spent her time at a bar. Steel was in Paris at the site of a destroyed school. Ralph Dibney spoke with Bea about old times while playing with a pistol. Booster Gold, now with corporate sponsors on his costume, did some cleaning up in Metropolis. After stopping Mammoth from a simple jewelry store robbery, he stopped for a photo op. He and Skeets flew off, the robot told him his next spot as Booster rambled on about the speech Superman would be making the next day about the new Justice League.
Ralph was startled out of a suicide attempt when he listened to a phone message: his wife's grave had been vandalized. John Henry Irons (Steel) took his niece's armor away from her when she refused to help so she could try out for the Teen Titans. Black Adam found a new purpose as leader of Kahndaq. Dr. Sivana was abducted from his lab by what appeared to be a reptilian creature and a creature with fur.
Heroes from all over gathered in Metropolis for a memorial service. Skeets had a malfunction - Wonder Woman, Batman, and Superman were nowhere to be found. A statue of Superboy was unveiled. Martian Manhunter had to restrain Booster when he flipped out.
The Question peeled the bat from the signal light atop Gotham City PD HQ. He replaced it with spray paint in the form of a question mark. When he turned it on, it shone directly on Montoya's apartment wall.

Subtitle Looking back at Tomorrow
Date May 17, 2006
Writer(s) Geoff Johns, Grant Morrison, Greg Rucka, Mark Waid
Artist(s) Keith Giffen, Joe Bennett, Jack Jadson
storyline Ralph visited his wife's grave and took pictures of the markings. There, a young man (the groundskeeper who found it) spoke to him. Ralph had saved his brother from a kidnapping years before. Booster took Skeets to Dr. Will Magnus, who fixed the little robot up. It believed the problem was either a glitch or that someone was altering the fabric of time. Afterwards, Booster took Magnus to visit Professor T.O. Morrow, who was locked up in Haven. Morrow noted (and warned) him that "mad" scientists were disappearing across the globe.
The Question broke in on Montoya, who was in bed with a girlfriend. When she saw him, she grabbed her gun and opened fire. Her companion flipped out that he didn't have a face. He disappeared, but left her an address: 520 Kane St.
Booster and Skeets saved a jetliner from crashing, but Skeets' glitch returned - it had some of the details wrong. Montoya visited the address and the Question appeared. He offered to hire her for $200 per day. He then vanished after giving her a clue about the run-down building he'd led her to.
Dibney found Cassie Sandsmark - Wonder Girl - in Titans Tower. She'd just given a webcast to the followers of Superboy. Ralph told her the S symbol was Kryptonian for "hope." Inverted, as it was in the photo of his wife's grave, it meant "resurrection."

Issue 52 week 3
Subtitle New World Order
Date May 24, 2006
Writer(s) Geoff Johns, Grant Morrison, Greg Rucka, Mark Waid
Artist(s) Keith Giffen, Joe Bennett, Ruy Jose
storyline Maggie Sawyer was called in on a homicide in Gotham City. The victim appeared to be former President Lex Luthor. Elsewhere, Black Adam stopped Power Girl in her pursuit of Terra-Man. He warned her out of Kahndaq's airspace and told her to pass it on to her "friends."
John Henry Irons and his niece, Natasha, had it out again. This time about her D in English and her upcoming summer school. He received a call from STAR Labs wanting him to come in and identify a body.
Some men from Intergang approached Black Adam with gifts - $2million in gold and the most beautiful virgin in Egypt. He killed one of the men and refused their offer.
Booster Gold took down Shockwave in the streets of Metropolis before heading to a meeting with a pharmaceutical company. He signed on as their spokesman. Skeets had tipped him off on them, but apparently suffered another malfunction. One of the partners was arrested by the Secret Service during the event. Booster and Skeets sought out Rip Hunter.
Irons found that the Luthor body was not "their" Lex Luthor, but some sort of dopplegangar from the recent multiple earths event. Though their DNA matched well, the victim's eyes were blue - not green. The real Lex Luthor arrived with press in tow. He told them all the bad things he'd been blamed for were the doings of the Lex Luthor from another dimension.
Black Adam gave a press conference - he said the time was for people who change the world, not patrol it. He ripped Terra-Man in half and flew away.

Writer(s) Geoff Johns, Grant Morrison, Greg Rucka, Mark Waid
Artist(s) Keith Giffen, Joe Bennett, Jack Jadson
storyline Montoya continued her surveillance on the 520 Kane St. building. In two weeks, nothing had happened. Halo was helping a group of astronauts look for the missing heroes from the Rann - Thanagar War. They believed they picked up something from Adam Strange. Bea (Fire) visited Booster, but walked out when he would rather meet with sponsors than help find the missing space heroes.
The Question checked in on Montoya and warned her of the ills of cigarette smoking. John Henry Irons hallucinated about Steel and realized he's been poisoned. He fell in his lab and liquid metal began to cover him. Ralph visited with the Kryptonian Cult. They immersed him in water, but he experienced no visions. When he got out of the water, his wedding ring was gone.
Montoya saw someone enter the building. She followed, and the Question came in behind her. They found a trap door and a monster below. She blasted it with one of the alien (?) guns that fell out of a crate she was thrown through.
In northern Australia, the Zeta Beam brought back some of the space heroes, but they had been damaged - Hawkgirl was huge, Alan Scott was bleeding from the eyes. All appeared to be in terrific pain.

storyline Alan Scott visited Animal Man's wife. He was still missing. She refused to give up hope. Luthor broadcast that he'd found a way to synthesize the metagene - anyone could be a super-man now.
Steel met Dr. Mid-Nite and Alan Scott at St. Camillus, a metahuman care facility. Hawkgirl was 25 feet tall. Cyborg and Firestorm had been fused together. Mal Duncan had a piece of the Red Tornado attached to his chest. Alan Scott lost an eye, and the one he had wasn't his own. Scott told them about the telepathic communication they'd had. He had no explanation as to where they'd been for the last month. He'd lost his daughter and wasn't taking things well. Adam Strange, Animal Man, Starfire, Supergirl, and others were still missing.
Captain Sawyer visited with Montoya. She was still recovering from her injuries from the monster fight. The location of the fight was clean. No alien weapons, no monster corpse, nothing. Sawyer told her to be careful; Montoya still had her alien weapon.
Mal Duncan went into arrest. Steel stabilized him, but he sat up and screamed "It's coming! 52! 52!" He then fell back into his slumber. Alan told them those were Red Tornado's last words.
Buddy Baker (Animal Man), Starfire, and Adam Strange were on a paradise of a world. Only Strange seemed to be injured - he had no eyes. He attempted to get a space ship back into working order as Buddy warned them of a predator nearby.

Two Green Lanterns (Hal Jordan and John Stewart) were ordered to leave China by their superhero team, the Great Ten. The two teams fought over who's jurisdiction (Earth or China) it was. As the GLs secured their target (Evil Star) and prepared their escape, Black Adam joined the battle - China had joined his country's coalition. The Russian Rocket Red team arrived with orders to escort the Green Lanterns into their airspace.
Magnus met with Morrow again. Cameras had been placed in Morrow's cell.
Skeets and Booster Gold found Rip Hunter's old hideout. Skeets was able to get him in, but had to stay behind with the lock mechanism. Inside, Booster found a room full of notes, including a blackboard documenting "TIME IS BROKEN." Another note fingered Booster as the cause of the time problems.

Lois threw a newspaper at her husband and barked at him for jumping out a window. He told her Superman would be back, he just needed some time to recharge after flying through a red son. Kent had been rehired with a raise. He believed Supernova was "on the level" and acted with experience.

Charlie again warned Renee about smoking. Kate Kane met them with information: Her family indirectly owned it, but it had not been rented to anyone for the last six weeks (timing it right for the night of the monster). Renee thanked her and they parted ways once more. Charlie connected the previous renters to Intergang. He then connected them to Whisper A'Daire and Abbot, who worked for the late Ra's al Ghul. Batman (or woman?) watched and listened to them from across the street.
They headed out to gather more information and were attacked by monsters. One was Whisper, the other was Abbot. As Whisper gave the order for them to be killed, Batwoman broke in. Renee knew almost immediately that it was Kate. Together, the three escaped without harm; Batwoman left before the cops arrived.
