Checkmate,
an organization to police metahuman activities comprised
of both meta and non-meta members, was adopted and sanctioned
by the United Nations. As they were in committee, agents
attacked a Kobra base. The team got in and killed their
leader.
The People's Republic of China vetoed the act; Checkmate
was given one week to cease all operations and disband.
While the ruling was given, Amanda Waller received intel
that their target was based in China. |

White
Queen (Amanda Waller) and her Bishop (King Faraday)
devise a plan to blackmail the Chinese ambassador and
have him reverse his vote.
White King (Alan Scott) called his Bishop (Michael Holt
- Mr. Terrific) in for a meeting over their recent mission
which ended in carnage. Black Queen (Sasha Bordeaux)
was briefed after leaving Holt's bedroom.
Checkmate struck a missile factory in North Korea. At
committee, Checkmate decided to investigate the situation
which caused China to veto.
Waller showed Bordeaux some paperwork where China was
experimenting on metas and building an army.
Kobra watched as Checkmate visited ambassadors verifying
support on a second vote.
A team parachuted into China. |

Sasha
Bordeaux and Thomas Jagger (White King's Knight) ambushed
a Chinese military truck heading to a secret location.
Fire (Beatriz Dacosta - Black King's Knight) and Count
Vertigo (White Queen's Knight) were in on the mission.
Tension continued between Fire (who opposed killing)
and Sasha.
A Kobra agent attacked Alan Scott in France. Scott,
using his ring, captured the man. Amanda Waller was
attacked in London. After hearing Scott captured his
alive, she shot her would-be assassin.
Back at the castle, Mr. Terrific discovered the true
reason for China's vote: it wasn't that they had a metahuman
testing facility, it was that it had been compromised
by Kobra.
The team inside China reached their target as it was
being "sanitized" by the Chinese government. |

The
Checkmate team in China faced off against the airships
razing the compound. Sasha realized the ship was alien
design - Drulan. They were captured by the August General
and his troops. Sasha rattled off infractions they'd
witnessed and the Chinese left to convene with their
superiors.
Faraday and Waller (both on the white team) realized
they were in trouble when Mr. Terrific (on the black
team) noted they were withholding information. Alan
Scott used his ring to learn Waller was lying - she
was in no danger when she killed her would-be Kobra
assassin.
Count Vertigo - on his own accord - attempted to steal
Chinese Intel by force. The Chinese metas ordered them
killed as Green Lantern (Scott) arrived with their ambassador.
GL, using his ring, pointed out their Kobra infiltrator.
The vote was recast, and Checkmate passed. Alan Scott
was removed from his position by the US. |

At
a Checkmate facility in Switzerland, the selection process
for the new Black Queen's Knight continued.
At the Castle, Scott gathered up his things. Mr. Terrific
came in with his resignation, but Scott asked him to
hold it - he would be the new White King.
Sasha and Michael discussed their future should he become
White King.
Josephine Tautin was victorious and named Black Queen's
Knight. |

Bronze
Tiger broke into a holding facility in Qurac and let
loose its only inmate. Sasha spoke with her Bishop (Jessica
Midnight) about Amanda Waller and her political holds.
Mirror Master attempted to recruit Icicle on a non-Society
job.
Waller visited Ben Turner (Bronze Tiger) and the man
he'd helped escape - Col. Rick Flag. She asked them
to track down the last incarnation of the Suicide Squad,
which she'd lost contact with in Kahndaq.
Mirror Master's plan was to make a hit that would not
only raise eyebrows in Checkmate, but get Waller as
well. All were in and they headed out. Calculator contacted
them once they were surrounded (and Punch had been killed)
- their mission was terminated due to not being sanctioned
by the society. |

Flag
and Tiger arrived on the scene as the villains made
their move. Javelin was killed trying to get Jewelee
away from her dead husband's body. Inside, they killed
the Tattooed Man after realizing he'd sold them out
to the Society. They got their target (a young boy with
energy powers the country was using as fuel) as Tiger
and Flag found them. They escaped together through one
of Mirror Master's mirrors.
Flag told them there was no Task Force X and no Suicide
Squad, just some people wanting to get back at Waller.
He ordered them to disburse.
Checkmate got word of the kid and met. Mr. Terrific
believed Waller leaked the information because Checkmate
wouldn't move on the situation. |
