| Storyline |
Batgirl
took down some muggers then tossed their gun to the
victim: "Next time just shoot 'em." She was
out looking for Arkham escapee Victor Zsasz, hoping
to capture him so she could see the look in Batman's
face when she beat him to a collar.
She spotted him after finding a still-warm body. The
crazed killer ducked onto a subway car before she could
catch up to him.
The next day, while attending a funeral, Barbara picked
up something from the crime scene the night before:
items around the body included both matches and nicotine
gum.
Using her gut and the clues, Batgirl found and defeated
Zsasz. Batman looked on from an open window. He complimented
her and offered her an assignment, but she refused -
she needed time to reflect / grieve on her lost friend.

| Notes,
references to time, and chronology: |
|
Of
note: Zsasz is introduced in The Last Arkham (Shadow of the
Bat 1-4, 1992). This story obviously pre-dates it, as Barbara
had already been paralyzed at that point. |
