Green
Lantern Hal Jordan found a corpse in space while
returning home. He contacted Batman, who'd found
dozens of identical bodies across the planet. A
huge yellow creature attacked them in the cave.
After defeating it, they headed to Las Vegas on
a hunch = the corpse had cards from a casino in
it's pocket.
There, they found the dead man was in a relationship
with the owner. She was attempting to destroy a
book; Batman and GL were attacked again. They learned
the book was able to show both the past and the
future - the Book of Destiny.
The attackers split up - GL followed the one with
the book; Batman followed the one with a strange
probability weapon (the Haruspex). |

GL
got an assist from Supergirl. They headed to the
casino planet Ventura. The Book of Destiny appeared
to be rewriting itself in some parts. Supergirl
took on a pair of monsters in arena combat - the
only person to bet on her had to have the book.
GL captured him, but they were hit with a Zeta Beam
from the planet Rann. Supergirl was stranded on
Ventura.
Batman ended up on El Paso, Texas. He and the Blue
Beetle worked together tracking the Haruspex. |

Batman
and Beetle were hit with the probability weapon
and a blizzard formed around them. Jaime's armor
was able to get them out. He knew of a woman who
might be interested in getting her hands on the
weapon. He was right on target - La Dama was in
negotiations for it. The Fatal Five, a team of supervillains
from the 31st century, attacked. Batman was hit
with the Haruspex and he merged with one of them,
a cyborg called Tharok.
Supergirl rescued Lobo from a firing squad and hired
him to help her get to Rann. |

| storyline |
The
Legion was able to separate Batman and Tharok. After
hearing a little bit and realizing what was going
on (chronal disruptions due to his presence there),
Batman grabbed a flight ring and fled. As the Legion
followed him, time continued to fold on itself.
A Lord of Luck appeared, saying he'd been in possession
of the book for a thousand years. The future began
to completely collapse.
On Rann, the heroes learned that Supergirl's powers
were increasing exponentially due to the trinary
suns. They looked for Rann's new leader, the man
who held the book and was turning the tide of the
war. |

| storyline |
The
Lord of Luck showed them how his group had taken
control of the book and how the future's past was
now changing. He killed Brainiac.
The Lords of Luck, who were controlling Rann's new
leader, attacked the heroes. They escaped and had
Supergirl use her heightened powers to read the
book from afar. She found Batman in the future.
Using a Zeta Beam and GL energy, they were able
to pull him back to the correct time. Batman knew
the four who'd evaded the book would be the Challengers
of the Unknown.
Adam used a Zeta Beam to teleport them to Rann.
Since they were not in the Book of Destiny, they
were able to reclaim it and become it's new keepers.
The future was rewritten again and Supergirl lost
all she'd learned about the future. |
