Storyline: (1) Weeks after the gang war ended, Batman began to find OD'ed junkies. Without drugs for so long, they took too much when they began to reappear on the streets. He beat up a dealer and got some names and locations. The drugs seemed to bear the signatures of multiple gangs in the city. He led the police to a cutting ring where he was astonished that it was Yakuza and not Triad or Escabedo. Leaving, Batman realized he'd become to dependent on Oracle, who'd recently left Gotham City. Onyx had taken over for Orpheus, who'd become somewhat a martyr. Robin and Batgirl also left town. Alfred was tending to Dick, who was still recovering from his gunshot wound. Batman was back to being alone. He tracked down Mad Hatter. Killer Croc and Alexandra Kosov were at his side. Batman saved their hostage after learning Black Mask was their boss. He caught Catwoman up on what was going on.
(2) Batman saved a boy who'd been the victim of a kidnapping.

Storyline: (1) NOTE: PRE-WAR GAMES
Batman saved a young girl from getting raped, topped what could have turned into domestic violence, kept a man from getting mugged in a bad part of town. Countless other crimes went untouched in Gotham City. Batman went after the killer of a fourteen year old girl. He was too late. The killer was killed by his dealer when he learned the girl had OD'd. After taking down the dealer, Batman called Robin: an apartment building was on fire.
(2) A young carney got himself killed. His friends all witnessed the murder, but the police ruled it an accident.

Batman and Robin rescued victims of a huge apartment building fire. Penguin watched news reports of the fire closely. Batman recovered one pregnant woman's body, but not that of five others. He informed police he felt they were being held prisoner. Back in the cave, Robin told Batman about a girl that had come to the door a few days earlier. He visited a woman who claimed her pregnant daughter was in the building.
(2) The friends of the dead carney began their own investigation of his death.

Penguin cowered in fear / shame as he heard the exploits of his newest employee - Mr. Freeze. Word began spreading through Gotham City's media and elected officials on the 'baby ring.' Batman continued to investigate.
(2) The carneys kidnapped a man and questioned him about their dead friend. The man admitted to being a part of trafficking people into the country years before. Their friend had been one of them who defaulted on his payback to them. Shots were fired, their man was killed.

Storyline: (1) NOTE: PRE-WAR GAMES
Robin went in on a man who shot his wife and attempted to kill his child also. The man evaded and jumped from his high-rise apartment window. Mr. Freeze escaped Arkham, snatched a young girl, and demanded a priest marry them. Batman got to Freeze, who was tearing down a neighborhood. Freeze's helmet was shot and attackers converged.
(2) The carneys found out who killed their friend and killed him. The second killer ended up in jail.

Batman tried to get one of the attackers to talk, but he melted away. Freeze got back to his bride-to-be and the priest. Batman found them and rescued the pregnant girl. Freeze had already killed the priest. One of the investigating officers realized his partner had been replaced by an evil doppleganger.
(2) The cave became infested with tiny clayfaces after Batman hit one with the car.

As Robin called for medical attention - he and Batman had just taken down Wesker and Scarface - he heard that Cassie Welles' body had been found. One of the detectives informing the family was an evil dopplegangar. He tried to kill the family, but Batman and the mother stopped him. Batman believed Cassie's body was also a dopplegangar and got some information from Penguin.
(2) In Europe, Alfred was drafted to be a spy / butler for a supervillain.

Batman, in disguise, searched Crown Point for clues about "The Body." He found the man he was looking for, and after a week, returned home.
(2) Alfred, after having to out himself as a spy, was rescued. Afterwards, he traveled to the US and began work for the Waynes.

(2) Tired of being used and mutated by Hush, Mad Hatter, Black Mask, and the like, Killer Croc went out for vengeance. He tracked down Dr. Bellezza.

Storyline: (1) Batman woke Alex Kosov - she was in a torture device. He got information from her and plucked out one of her eyes.
A man named Aaron Black gave a TV interview detailing that Stephanie Brown, a girl who died in the recent gang war was Spoiler and Robin. Alfred brought Bruce a tape (anonymously sent to Wayne Manor) of the interview, with things not shown on TV. Batman went out to Dr. Thompkins' clinic - he learned she'd resigned and the chief resident was AWOL. He talked to a nurse - Stephanie's file was gone, last checked out by Dr. Vera Cesares, the missing doctor. Batman found the doctor dead and Stephanie's incomplete file in her apartment - Brown should have lived. Batman tampered with the crime scene and wondered about Leslie.
Batman followed Aaron Black and was met by the Joker.

(2) Dr. Bellezza check on Croc - his condition was mutating again. She had him tell her about what he remembered in life.

Storyline: (1) [continued from Batman 643]
Batman was seen dropping off flowers at a memorial to the gang war victims. Alfred patched him though to a conversation going on at a local dive where some thugs were talking about Aaron Black's public appearances. He made a bargain with the latest to interview him and learned the location. Batman confronted "the Reformer," better known as Cluemaster - Stephanie's father. Brown said he knew nothing about a tape sent to Batman and he only wanted him to face the consequences of letting his daughter die.
During this, Crystal Brown - Stephanie's mother - was giving an interview to the man who first brought out her ex-husband. Black Mask, as Batman, attacked the interview show in hopes of killing them both on the air. The real Batman got there in time; he brought the network off-line. Batman was unable to save Stephanie's missing records from Black Mask and her mother.
Batman escaped; Joker took down Black mask.

(2) When Dr. Bellezza came to the conclusion that she couldn't help Croc, he ate her and went off in search of Riddler, Black Mask, and Batman.

Robin told Gordon about "the Body." Donnie and Raffi took a walk and talked. A homeless man, foaming at the mouth, wandered up on some kids playing baseball and asked for help. One of the kids killed his family. Raffi and Donny happened upon the scene. Raffi found the homeless man he suspected of being the plague carrier and attacked him.

Bruce walked into a park and remembered who he was and what he was doing. Robin took down two masked men trying to break into the hospital. He and Gordon watched as more began the climb.
Raffi returned home to find Bruce (still in character) and his wife kissing. He slit his wife's throat. Bruce was tossed from the apartment window.
Bruce woke up with Siran caring for him (not with a slit throat like in his dream). He took Raffi down and got Siran to her Alfred so he could get her to safety. Alfred brought him his costume.
Akins turned on the signal, per the mayor's order.
