Storyline: Batman and Robin, along with the major crimes unit, investigated an explosion and strange gas in a Gotham City park. The gas turned out to be a defoliant, killing all plants in its path. The police closed in on the man, dubbed the Weedwhacker - a man who suffered from extreme allergies. He escaped their pursuit, but the Batmobile gave chase.

Storyline: Poison Ivy, having heard the screams of all the dying plants, escaped Arkham Asylum. She attacked the Weedwhacker as Batman and Robin arrived. Batman when after Ivy, while Robin went for Weedwhacker. He got away, but Robin was able to keep his bomb from going off. Batman took down Ivy.

Batman and Robin checked out a possible carrier who lived in a self-sustained condo neighborhood for the extremely rich. They confirmed he'd been infected and began seeking a survivor from a previous outbreak. The residents of Babylon Towers also sought this person out. They pooled their riches and hired bounty hunters. Robin and Alfred arrived in Canada to find him. Catwoman was already there.

Nightwing got Robin to the cave under Alfred's care and went back out to find Batman. The governor sent in the National Guard. Batman and Gordon got Ivy and escaped Babylon Towers. Gordon was happy to learn that THE Batman was back. Alfred continued to care for Robin. Nightwing met up with Batman and they headed for the cave.

Storyline: Harvey "Two-Face" Dent was being transported to the newly rebuilt Arkham Asylum when the police van was attacked. The mysterious figure who'd taken Charaxes, WeedWhacker, etc. captured him. Batman, Nightwing, and Robin spoke with Gordon about it. They took down one of Black Mask's top agents in hopes of capturing "Lock-up." He struck; Montoya and Bullock took him down.

Storyline: Lock-up (Lyle Bolton) refused to give the location of his captives. Unless they let him go, he insisted they would starve to death. He escaped. Batman and Robin went out undercover to check on possible targets, Nightwing checked on yet another. He took down his target when he found that he'd abducted yet another child. "Matches" Malone met with some mobsters. Robin found Lock-up and was taken by him - he thought he was a gun-runner. "Matches" got the shake down from the mobsters.

Storyline: Lock-up finger printed Robin in attempt to get his ID. Oracle intercepted it and fed him a bogus report. She notified Alfred. Nightwing got a transmission from Robin and went looking for him. "Matches" Malone escaped the mobsters without compromising his identity. Former Mayor Krol, cured of the Clench, was found dead. Nightwing found Lock-up's jail and took him down momentarily. Lock-up opened the floodgates and began filling the cells with water. Batman arrived and got everyone free. It was discovered that Krol had died of a mutation of the Clench, which killed him in a matter of hours. Every Clench survivor had the risk of recurrence.

Ra's al Ghul, Talia, and Ubu (Ra's servant) stood above Batman, Nightwing, and Robin. Ra's ordered them killed. Running for cover, Nightwing took a bullet. The ancient wheel beneath the desert was a recipe for plagues. Ra's again planned to cleanse the world of 90% of humanity. His technicians finished digitally rendering the wheel; Ra's ordered the entire underground facility, including the wheel, destroyed. Ubu flooded the caves. Batman was able to get himself and Robin to safety, as Nightwing faced off against Ra's. His two partners arrived soon after. Ra's escaped with Talia and Ubu, who removed his mask to reveal himself as Bane.

Back in Gotham City, Batman found the Demon's agents at the site of an upcoming grand opening of a casino. Bane was there and attacked him. Batman sabotaged the building and it exploded. His rage helped him defeat Bane, but the current from the river below the casino dragged him away. Nightwing, Robin, and Huntress pursued Ra's al Ghul by boat.

Wayne Pharmaceuticals began disbursing the cure. The Demon's remaining Gotham agents attacked police headquarters with a suicide bombing. Commissioner Gordon and former Commissioner Essen-Gordon, along with the rest of the force drove them away. The estranged couple made up and headed home.

Storyline: Huntress and Robin took down some muggers during a blackout then stopped a shootout between gang-bangers and cops. Batman rescued a pessimistic talk radio host from being dropped off a bridge.

Storyline: A three-time felon attempting to go straight was duped into being the getaway driver in a jewelry story robbery. Batman and Robin took down the robbers, but "Al Gabone" (so named for his failed crimes) got away and continued trying to go straight.
