Storyline: LexCorp moved into NML overnight to begin rebuilding Gotham City. Jobs were offered promised to anyone who would take them. Batman visited Luthor and claimed to have inside information on him. Luthor thought he was bluffing. Bruce Wayne contacted Lucius Fox about the status of their property in Gotham. Joker made his first move.

With Pettit's sanity already in question, he sent his troops to battle. Joker began capturing his men, putting them in green wigs and purple coats, and letting Pettit kill them. Bill refused to listen to reason and shot another of his own men who was trying to go get reinforcements. Huntress took him down and stood between Joker's men and the Strong Man compound. She took down twelve of his men before Joker shot her three times.

Storyline: A charismatic patriot calling himself Banner began threatening Gotham City's government facilities. Batman and Agent Leary were able to stop him from destroying a building, but Banner escaped back to his followers.

Storyline: Batman went after a foreign diplomat's son who had been kidnapped by Cipher, an international terrorist. He saved the kid and got him back to his father. cipher was using devices made by Wayne Industries.

Storyline: Beneath the cave, Batman investigated the influx of rats in the area. He found a little girl who was living with a family of alligators. She told him of how she was mistreated by her foster family. Nearby, three robbers were attempting to blow a hole in Bruce Wayne's "basement." Their charge went off, knocking Alfred unconscious, and they entered the cave. When they realized Wayne must be Batman, one of the three killed the other two so she could get the full cut of the profits. She was killed by one of the alligators while leaving. Batman notified Bullock of the foster parents who'd mistreated the alligator girl.

Storyline: A serial murderer (who believed his acts were art) became paranoid of Batman. After breaking his glasses evading "Batman," he used his artistic tool (a hammer) to attack him. The Batman ended up being a window inside a high-rise. Adrian Lupus fell to his death.

Storyline: Bruce Wayne attended a charity event held on a cruise ship by Ms. Bader-Smythe. It was attacked by an aquatic humanoid. "Orca" took Bader-Smythe's necklace and escaped back into the sea. Batman investigated Orca's motives by visiting a marine research facility / aquarium run by Dr. Grace Balin. Batman encountered Orca again at a place where stolen jewelry was fenced. Two were killed; Orca escaped into the sea.

Storyline: Batman jumped Orca again at Dr. Balin's facility. She believed she was being somewhat a Robin Hood - stealing from the rich. When Orca escaped, Batman found Dr. Balin's wheelchair in the killer whale tank. Bruce got into disguise and wandered into a group of homeless. They took him to a free soup kitchen where he found Dr. Balin serving the meals. He was able to read her lips. After leaving, he found a boy that had been threatened by Bader-Smyth. Orca attacked Bader-Smyth later that night.

Storyline: After Orca was shot, she grabbed Bader-Smyth and jumped into the ocean. While he pursued them, Batman got a report from Alfred: Dr. Balin had been doing stem cell research on killer whales in order to possibly cure her handicap. Bader-Smyth shot Orca; Batman got them both to the surface. Dr. Balin took another dose of her serum, became Orca, and got away. Charges were later brought against Bader-Smyth for a number of crimes.

Storyline: Batman was unable to save a friend caught in a gunfight. He remembered back when Jeremy Samuels was head of security at Wayne Enterprises and how he'd lost his wife and child in an accident which pushed him over the edge. After being paroled (for going on an armed robbery rampage), Bruce gave him a job only for Samuels to quit after two weeks. The BatSquad watched him - Batman knew he was planning something. Samuels had been hired by a man who worked with Penguin. Batman tracked him, but got caught in a diversion. The diversion enabled someone to watch him and track his moves. By the time Batman realized what was going on, the watcher had escaped.

Storyline: After heavy thinking, Batman met Samuels and the mystery watcher at a cathedral - a Vatican art display was arriving. Jeremy was killed, and the watcher (who was able to match Batman in combat) escaped. Batman and Robin shook down the Penguin, but go no information.

Storyline: Batman watched on of Penguin's money drops, but could do little about it - a camera crew was nearby shooting a documentary on the Batman urban legend. He improvised, getting the crew distracted while he took care of business. The crew got interviews from Gordon, the GCPD, and even Bruce Wayne. Few actually believed (admitted) the Batman existed. They interviewed Oswald Cobblepot shortly after he was informed that his building's new owner, Wayne Enterprises, had evicted him. Cobblepot sent the crew to interview Harvey Dent - the originator of the Batman legend. When a situation broke out in Arkham Asylum, Batman saved the crew and scared them away from completing their story.
